Lyrics for Angie as interpreted by spliphstar

Angie Lyrics
Oh Angie, Oh Angie, when will those dark clouds disappear
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried.

Angie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said goodbye
Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here
Oh, Angie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it time we said good-bye

With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, I still love you, Baby, ev'rywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you come on baby, dry your eyes

But Angie, Angie, ain't it good to be alive
Angie, Angie, they can't say we never tried

it's about anita pallenberg. angela richards' given name was dandelion, which she later changed herself. but since she was born in 72, she was only a baby when this song was written, so she can't be angie. angie = anita-i-need-ya. if you know the keith/anita relationship, the lyrics fit. angie bowie only wishes it were about her. another great stones love song.

ok lets get this thing straght, Angie was Mick Jaggers girlfriend, i know all the rest of the stuff are bullshit, cause SHE IS MY CUSIN, yeah Angie is my cusin, so once and for all Angie had nothing to do with David Bowie, and i actually think David Bowie was Gay at the time, i don't know about now

Several years ago, People Magazine actually ran an article where they interviewed the people that several "name" songs were written about, and Angie was one of the people they interviewed... she was a woman that Mick Jagger was involved with at one time... don't believe it was his wife or anyone else's (read: NOT MARRIED TO BOWIE)....

She UGLY by the way.

The way i heard it:

Mick and Bowie were sleeping together, and Bowie's wife (Angie) walked in on them.

I think they're both bisexual so it's not that hard to comprehend

This song was the campaign theme song to Angela Merkel when she ran for chancellor of Germany in 2005. The lyrics seem unusual for a political candidate to use in a theme song to rally voters: "Angie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said good-bye?" and "With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats / You can't say we're satisfied." Also, the Stones didn't grant permission to Merkel to use the song. Merkel later won.

the songs is great. Yeah, I heard that David Bowie's wife's name is Angie, so immediately thought of this song. I was thinking it was a sort of love ballad from david bowie to Angie but written by Jagger, or Richards or who ever.
Whatever I'm probably wrong all in all its an awesome hit.

This song is like the conversation you have with someone who you do love and you don't want to break up with. But you know that you need to because it just won't work although you would love it to work, it just won't. This song captures how that feeling must be.

HELP! I saw the very end of a music video or live performence of Mick Jagger singing this song on VH1. He was dressed all in white including a hat and suspenders. I can't find it or anything similar anywhere on the internet! If anyone has seen it or knows a site to go on to find it, please post it.

I love the stones but I think this song was designed to appeal to chicks. As a guy I like the heavier stuff. But the main reason I think this song is lame--a throwaway is that they rhyme eyes with eyes. Come on.

Factorygirl got it right. It was originally about Anita Pallenberg before Jagger got hold of it and changed most of the lyrics.

Everyone seems so sure of their answer, so I have no idea what to believe about this song. How unreliable you all are! I need a book on the Stones.
