Angie, Angie
When will those clouds all disappear?
Angie, Angie
Where will it lead us from here?
With no lovin' in our soul and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, Angie
You can't say we never tried

Angie, you're beautiful
But I hate that sadness in your eyes
Angie, I still love you baby
Remember all those nights we cried
All the dreams were held so close
Seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear
Angie, Angie
Where will it lead us from here? Yeah

All the dreams we held so close
Seemed to all go up in smoke
Hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, I still love you baby
Everywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you
Come on baby dry your eyes
But Angie, Angie
Ain't it good to be alive
Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried

General Comment:Taken from Wikipedia (So treat with caution) - Popular belief has it that the song was about David Bowie's first wife Angela or even about actress Angie Dickinson. Another belief was that the song was about Richards' daughter Dandelion Angela who had just been born.[3] The song was written almost entirely both lyrically and musically by Keith Richards and in Richards' own biography he claims that the name Angie is a pseudonym for heroin and his attempt to quit while detoxing in Switzerland.

2 days ago, I had absolutely no interest in this song but found a tutorial DVD and learnt to play it before I'd even heard the song (which I love BTW).

General Comment:I think in the beginning of the song, the couple has come to a point in their relationship where all they do is fight all the time and they have no money to do anything or go anywhere and they are driving each other crazy being around each other so much. They eventually get to the point where they feel that they have tried everything and don't know what to do anymore other than be apart...the song goes on and the last part of the lyrics seem happy to me, it sounds to me like when he comes back and says "everywhere I look i see your eyes, there ain't a woman that comes close to you, come on baby dry your eyes" i think he has realized that there is nothing else out there for him and that she is the one, he says "come on baby dry your eyes" because he is back and she has nothing to be sad about anymore because he is back and then the end "they can't say we never tried" means everyone can't say they never tried splitting up and living separate lives without each other, because they did try that, and in the end realized that they were meant to be together.

General Comment:I checked out the post here just to see how long it would be before some moron said it was about Angela Bowie. The very first post I saw, said it. And many posts after it say it was about Angela Bowie. Let me clarify: THIS SONG HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANGELA BOWIE. If anyone can find me a direct quote from either Jagger or Richards saying that it does, then please let me know. But you won't find such a quote, because I've read all their quotes about the song and they both say it has nothing to do with Angela Bowie. Angela Bowie said it has nothing to do with her, other than the name of the woman in the song shares her first name. Jagger has commented several times that it has nothing to do with her. Keith wrote the original lyric, which was "Anita, I need ya..." His girlfriend was Anita P. Mick re-wrote it to Angie because it was softer to pronounce. Keith also has a daughter named Angie, who had been born at the time the song was written.

General Comment:I think this is about an addiction and a man who are using drugs with his girlfriend. But then in a period the couple runs out of money, and their addiction cannot continue because of the financial problems. I thin the narrator do believe that non of them doing drugs individually makes them better people and sort of makes them more alive, but their relationship was all about the drugs. Maybe they started up as a couple not doing drugs, but I think the line "All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke" indicates that the dreams they possibly had at first all was destroyd because of their addiction. I do believe that their financial problems made them see clear: Even though the two of them was(/is) in love the relationsship will only end up hurting them both.

General Comment:I don't understand...maybe it's because I am young. It seems that this song is about two people splitting up because of financial trouble. Why would you forsake a relationship because you're having trouble putting food on the table? And how would that help, anyway? It seems kind of odd to me.

General Comment:The song was written by Jagger to upset Bowie. Jagger had an affair with Bowie's wife.
Called the song Angie to further upset Bowie about the affair. Bowie responded with a song
called "The Laughing Gnome" which was a go at Jagger.

My Opinion:I am new to RS fan club.
This is a very touchy song, it was amazing to hear this romantic song of RS. Before this, I thought RS is all about iconic songs like Sympathy, Brown Sugar, Satisfaction , Gimme Shelter etc
