Tender is the night
Lying by your side
Tender is the touch
Of someone that you love too much
Tender is the day
The demons go away
Lord I need to find
Someone who can heal my mind

Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
That we have
I'm waiting for that feeling
I'm Waiting for that feeling
Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my

Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my

Tender is the ghost
The ghost I love the most
Hiding from the sun
Waiting for the night to come
Tender is my heart
I'm screwing up my life
Lord I need to find
Someone who can heal my mind

Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
That we have
I'm waiting for that feeling
I'm Waiting for that feeling
Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my
Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my

Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
That we have
I'm waiting for that feeling
I'm Waiting for that feeling
Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my
Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my

Tender is the night
Lying by your side
Tender is the touch
Of someone that you love too much
Tender is my heart you know
I'm screwing up my life
Oh Lord I need to find
Someone who can heal my mind

Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love's the greatest thing
That we have
I'm waiting for that feeling
I'm Waiting for that feeling
Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my
Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my

Song Meaning:This is possibly my favourite song ever, and was written by Albarn (and Coxon) after Albarn's split with the Elastica singer Justine Frischmann, who he had been with for over eight years. The song explains Damon's longing for true love and a remedy to 'heal his mind' after the split. The song 'No Distance Left to Run' on the same album is about his break-up also. 13 is probably Blur's most personal album and their last decent effort. Tender is a message to himself and those others in his situation to find new love because love is the only way through.

Tender is as simple as possible but is easily the most beautiful song ever

I love that part! It's so simple, yet so beautiful. I can just see myself saying that to someone I know. They way Damon sings that part is just heartbreaking.

General Comment:"Tender is the night" is also a line from John Keats's poem "Ode To A Nightingale". The title of F. Scott Fitzgerald's book, which was mentioned in one of the above comments, is taken from this poem. It's one of Keats's finest works, so look it up! (Can you tell I'm a huge Keats fan yet? :-P)

I have no hard proof that Blur's song has anything to do with Keats, but it would make a lot of sense to me. It fits quite well, I think. "Ode To A Nightingale" is about the pain and pointlessness of mortality being overcome by the beauty that can be found within life (in a nutshell, that is - it's much more complex than that, of course). Tender is about the possibility of love overcoming the same sort of feelings - that is, the difficulties life in general - and making life worthwhile. As the song goes, "Love is the greatest thing."

I'm probably looking far too deep into this, but I find it interesting anyway.

Anyway, beautiful song from a beautiful album. I think the general meaning is pretty self-evident.
