We all meet people in our lives, and they all serve a purpose.
Nick met a girl, and they dident stay together, weather it being physically, location wise, mentally, or relationship wise.
He knows that he dident meet her by coincidence, and that he "believes in her purpose" aka he wants to find out the reason why they met, and why she entered in his for that short time.
When they parted, chances are they'll never see eachother again, but he believes they will because they had to much going to just let it pass by him like a stranger in the crowd

to me, its about a girl that wants to be single, she wants to take a break from this relationship because she isn't sure if she's ready to settle down... the guy, doesn't want her to leave... and it really upsets him, but he understands that she needs too, and has to let her go
