Time
Is never time at all
You can never ever leave
Without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change, the less you feel

Believe
Believe in me

Believe
That life can change
That you're not stuck in vain
We're not the same, we're different
Tonight

Tonight
So bright
Tonight

And you know you're never sure
But you're sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade
In your city by the lake
The place where you were born

Believe
Believe in me

Believe
In the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe there's not a chance tonight

Tonight
So bright
Tonight

We'll crucify the insincere tonight
We'll make things right
We'll feel it all tonight
We'll find a way to offer up the night
Tonight
The indescribable moments of your life
Tonight
The impossible is possible
Tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you
Tonight

General Comment:Sameness and difference. Two peas in a pod.

Before change, change as it's happening, and after change--it's truly a magnificent and beautiful process.

    This song is perfect.

Song Meaning:Billy Corgan said on 6/19/12 Stern that in this song the audience is himself. Against all odds, he escaped an abusive childhood. If he just keeps believing in himself, and exposing the naked sincerity of his soul, the best is still to come.

General Comment:This song is about you and losing yourself in daily life when an adult. The things that you've experienced when you were a kid are with you forever. You may have lost your innocence, but the feeling is still there if you let it be. It's about connecting with your inner child. "Believe" in tonight. Time doesn't matter; it has no bearing on how old you are. There is more to this, but that's a quick a overview.

General Comment:I think this song is about a couple different things.
1.) Crossing the threshold of adulthood. This is seen in the beginning lyrics, when Billy is describing that "Time is never time at all", and different memories. Also when he says "You can never really leave, without leaving a piece of youth."

2.) This is ultimately a love song. The type of love song? In my opinion it's about making forbidden love a justified love. Two people who are clearly either with other people or pulled apart due to other things, reaching and trusting that they will end up together. This is seen in the reoccuring lyrics "Believe in me" and "Believe in me as I believe in you". The final stanza indicates that the boundaries holding these two lovers back may be superficial or about a false ense of security. The begining lyrics indicate that the lovers are going through this trial during a time where they were crossing the threshold of adulthood. When Billy is describing that "Time is never time at all", and different memories. Also when he says "You can never really leave, without leaving a piece of youth."

General Comment:One of the most beautiful rock songs ever recorded. Just elates me listening to it. The strings are perfect and Chamberlin's drumming is some of the finest ever laid down.

General Comment:To me, the song (coupled with the video) represents the conscious and the unconscious (usually one is considered masculine and the other feminine depending on your sex) and how the two work together (when we dream at night) to fight your inner demons and make it all possible and believe in each other (meaning to believe in your whole self). I particularly love the lyrics, "and you know you're never sure, but you sure you could be right if you held yourself up to the light". I love it because, to me, it represents how we all struggle with our instinct and then doubt ourselves, but if we just held ourselves up to the light and examined ourselves as a whole and listened and learnt from our inner messages, who knows what could be possible.

General Comment:The song is about suicide,'the more you change, the less you feel' the song has a depressing undertone personally but it is quite uplifting. 'If you hold yourself up to the light' i always think that the person was saved by another or love. 'The indescribable moments of your life', to me its somebody reliving their life during the final moments.
To me its the song that means the most to me.

General Comment:this song is so beautiful
sounds like someone trying to convince their lover that theyve done wrong to that theyve changed and trying to win back
