I think this song is encouragement to be true to yourself and to believe in yourself. It says you should live in the moment and not the past. It's not so much about any one night in my opinion, but I art is in the eye of the beholder.

this song is AMAZING i think it's saying that u shouldn't be afraid to give in to love and that u should trust ur partner's love completely and love him back and all that good stuff. this video is so freaking cool too! i want to meet billy!

This is definately my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song. It feels as though I'm moved every time I hear it, but I've never really drawn a good enough meaning out of it. I guess I just don't want to say it if it's not exactly right. Feels like it would be degrading to the song or something. Anywho. Great video as well. Probably one of my favorite music videos of all time.

i think that this song is kind of and ode to the night when all magical things happen and it seems as though anything is possible. "and the embers never fade in your city by the lakethe place where you were born" are the most important lines to me because the place where i truely found out who i was is a city by the lake. its the place i feel i was really born

to me, this song is about having one last night with the person you love, but can't work it out with. its so beautiful.. i love listening to it before i fall asleep and imagine my own music video for it. the great thing is, depending on what you're thinking and how your day went, its different every time. viva la smashing pumpkins [their music, anyway]

this is such an amazing song. It gives me chills everytime i hear it. The strings mixed in with the guitar is so beautiful. This was our Junior Prom song, and it really holds true in its meaning. *Believe in the resolute urgency of now*

I think the song is about life in general. I thought he was going through each life stage, youth to adulthood.
I think he's saying live every moment like it's your last and embrace the moment right then and there.

awesome song. the night that i found out that my now ex was already with another guy, i drove up to my church around 10pm and i was listening to this song. i couldn't help but cry. the orchestral parts of the song are phenomenal and i totally love it. i just wish that she would have believed in me as i believed in her..thanks.
