I'm lying in my bed
The blanket is warm
This body will never be safe from harm
Still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal
Touch my skin to keep me whole

If only you'd come back to me
If you laid at my side
Wouldn't need no mojo pin
To keep me satisfied

Don't want to weep for you, don't want to know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so

Precious, precious silver and gold and pearls in oyster's flesh
Drop down we two to serve and pray to love
Born again from the rhythm, screaming down from heaven
Ageless, ageless, I'm there in your arms

Don't want to weep for you, I don't want to know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so, so, slow

The welts of your scorn, my love, give me more
Send whips of opinion down my back, give me more
Well it's you I've waited my life to see
It's you I've searched so hard for

Don't want to weep for you, I don't want to know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so, so,
Black, black, black beauty

Lyric Correction:Black beauty, I love your soul.

    Isn't that the final sentence...

General Comment:Ok people this is what Jeff said about Mojo Pin - "Sometimes if somebody you feel you need... the whole universe tells you that you have to have her, you start watching her favorite TV shows all night, you start buying her the things she needs, you start drinking her drinks, you start smoking her bad cigarettes, you start picking up her nuances in her voice, you sleep in safe sometimes the most dangerous thing... this is called Mojo Pin." Song Meaning:Surely, if a songs lyric can't be confirmed by the writer then it has to be open to personal interpretation?,....I'd always thought that to be a fundamental beauty in the art,..you know, like a signpost to the genius

Song Meaning:Assuming anybody is still reading this...

I can't believe only person sort of picked up on the drug slang. "Black beauty" is an old ('60s-'70s) slang term for speed. "White horse" is heroin, but everyone knows (or should know) that one.

General Comment:yeah i def feel a relation to the mojo pin being heroin, it seems like he is needing it since the ''black beauty left, black beauty being his guitar even, or probably a mix or interchangeably a woman..doesnt matter it means the same to him i this song..wish i knew.. but the idea that it is a woman it sensualizes the whole meaning, and needing for a person, or representation if you will, like music has that impact on him physically too..hmm, what do you think.. oh gosh his voice, like silk..sorry just loove jeff !!

General Comment:Reading the lyrics, I get that Buckley is in love with this women, and that is the black beauty. The white horse is the drug.

The first three stanzas are logical lyrically. It's about replacing drugs for his suffering for missing this woman. The next stanza is likely his literal drug trip. That's why he says "Screaming down from Heaven." I think this implies his high.

    My Interpretation:Black ribbons of coal
touch my skin to keep me satisfied..

If only you'd come back to me
If you laid at my side
    Wouldn't need no mojo pin
    To keep me satisfied

I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so

It's about doing heroin...whether Jeff Buckley did it or not is beside the point...

General Comment:First comment in almost a year! 2009.

This is my favourite song at the moment. The vocals are astounding.

General Comment:And no. While the Sin-e version is good, it is nowhere near as complete or full bodied as the Grace vesion. He even misses multiple notes in that version; I honestly think it's the worst of Grace songs on Sin-e, though it's still great.
