Another red letter day
So the pound has dropped and the children are creating
The other half ran away
Taking all the cash and leaving you with the lumber
Got a pain in the chest
Doctors on strike what you need is a rest

It's not easy love, but you've got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand 'cos friends will be friends - right till the end

Now it's a beautiful day
The postman delivered a letter from your lover
Only a 'phone call away
You tried to track him down but somebody stole his number
As a matter of fact
You're getting used to life without him in your way

It's so easy now, 'cos you got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand 'cos friends will be friends - right till the end

It's so easy now, 'cos you got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand - friends will be friends - right till the end

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand 'cos right till the end - friends will be friends
Yeah yeah

General Comment:I discovered this song about the same time i rediscovered one of my old friends. We go to the same school, and she's been in my life since kindergarten, but i only really realized she was there recently, and now she is my best friend. This song is so beautiful. It reminds me of when i my pet died of cancer, and my aunt's house burned down, all in the same week, and i was crushed beyond repair, or so it seemed, and my friends lifted me up and helped me move on.

General Comment:it's both, John's and Freddie's, track. And you know, every time I hear it my imagination creates such funny picture: John, who was left by his wife Veronica, is pushed down by the problems - there's a disorder all over, the children (4, 5 or how many of tnem has he got?) scream and so that, and the moment Freddie comes in and says something in this line: "take it easy, dear, you've got friends you can trust" and so on.
But if to be seriously, it's really great song. It makes me (and everybody, I guess) believe in real friendship which is stronger and more true than love.

General Comment:i'm simply amazed that it's freddie and john who wrote this song together..
of all the Queens, they have the most dissimilar characters, the most unlikely Queen members to be friends...
freddie's the oldest, john's the youngest. freddie's loud, john's quiet, freddie's openly bi, john's a family man... and many many more.

and yet if the articles that i've read were true, i think they are also very close.
i read somewhere that it was freddie who fought for another one bites the dust when brian and roger did not like it... there's also an interview of john where he defends freddie when reporters claim freddie has aids. and when one of freddie's old lover sold their story to the press, he knew freddie's not hurt for himself but for his family and friends who read it.

it also looks to me that john's the one most affected by the death of freddie... why didn't he join brian and roger on tour afterwards?

.. or maybe it's just my imagination, or i just think too much ..

but i think only those persons who knew about true friendship can write this song.

anyway, God bless freddie and john, my 2 most beloved Queen..

General Comment:When you find that the guy you like unrequitedly is just not worth bothering with anymore, your friends will be there to pick up the pieces.
Who knows, maybe you'll end up with one of them...
    Excellent, excellent vocals.

General Comment:Although having been a huge Queen fan for about than 15 years now, I never really liked the song, especially the sound of the guitar melody and the too obviously catchy chorus. However I recently rediscovered it and noticed I had never payed attention on how breathtakingly Mr Mercury performs on this track. It's stupendous, and somehow makes up for the flaws I mentioned above. Grand Freddie!!!

General Comment:I can definately relater to this song. A few months ago I was in a really dark place and I tried to kill myself, but my good friend actually saved m life. I started to fall and he caught me, expecting nothing in return. Friendship is a beautiful thing. It's a kind of magic :)
