I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

The wind of change
Blows straight into the face of time
Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

General Comment:A song of friendship for the world. Ultimately we are all people; not countries.

General Comment:I'm pretty sure this song is about the destruction of the Berlin Wall, and it's a fuckin awesome song.

General Comment:This song is about everything that was happening in the world then. everything from the end of WWII,through the cold war, the spring of 1968 revolutions, the USSR war in Afghanistan, the Kosovo and Bosnia conflicts, the fall of communism, and the fall of the berlin wall, and the US on the brink of war in the gulf war. the world had gone through hell for almost 50 years, and it seemed like it may finally be over, and the song is about listening to the winds of change, and hoping that they are a good one. sadly, we know now that more wars, and massacre was to follow.

General Comment:Rock me like a hurricane was a huge hit and is where i became a fan. Being born with a heart condition I had to have surgery done in '91 and this song kept morale up for me. I recovered well and was a changed person afterward.
I was about 11 when this song came out just after the wall came down. Huge Huge song that not only played a big role in my likeness for music, but awareness of life in general. Songs like these are timeless

General Comment:Just reminded of this Haunting song by the stunning, mature and heartfelt (without being soppy) love novel THE MOMENT by Douglas Kennedy. The Scorpions rated a mention as it is set in divided Berlin in that most Orwellian of years; 1984.

General Comment:Personally, i believe this song has to do with prostitution because you want to change prostitutes, and not have them come from the same direction as the wind. Also, this song is extremely racist towards blacks and women

General Comment:I grew with this song. moved me deeply as a child. the words haunting to me, as i understood them as a child.
Today it moves me just as much...but here is why.... it reminds me of my childhood....but it's about my husband's childhood. We are the same age, and yet he was brought up behind the iron curtain....and i am from 'the west'; we have come to together in London.
So now, the reason why this song makes me reminisce and cry...is two things that have blended into one.

I believe this song is about the world behind that iron curtain, drawing that curtain back...seeing the sun, blinking, and the children allowing themselves to start to dream...

General Comment:Moskva and Moscow are two different renderings of the same Russian word Москва. The city is named after the river. The origin of the name is an ancient Finnic language, in which it means "dark" and "turbid"

General Comment:This song means a lot to me too, I'm from West Berlin. I was 19 when the Brandenburg Gate was opened in November 1989 and we all ran through the cordon of soldiers and stepped on East German soil for the first time in our lives. Our whole lives before that had been lived under the spectre of nuclear war. The start of the 1990s with the reunification of our country, the collapse of the Soviet Union, the fall of the Wall, the freeing of the Warsaw Pact countries, was so full of hope and possibilities. I remember thinking that this was the year my life REALLY began. I still cry when I hear this song.
