Lyrics for Storm as interpreted by frog50000

Storm Lyrics
how long have i been in this storm
so overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
waters getting harder to tread
with these waves crashing over my head

if i could just see you
everything would be alright
if i had to see you
this darkness would turn into light

and i will walk on water
and you will catch me if i fall
and i will get lost into your eyes
and everything will be alright
and everything will be alright

i know u didn't bring me out here to drown
so why am i ten feet under and upside down
barely surviving has become my purpose
cause i'm so used to living underneath the surface

if i could just see you
everything would be alright
if i could see you
this stormness would turn into light

and i will walk on water
and you will catch me if i fall
and i will get lost into your eyes
and everything will be alright

and i will walk on water
and you will catch me if i fall
and i will get lost into your eyes
and everything will be alright
and now everything is alright
everythings alright

i think thissongis about God. his lifeislike a storm, and he knows that if only he can reach God, everything would make sense again. he so used to getting along with life, but just about handling its uphevals, But God makes it this way, so that when he feels lik he is only just barely surviving, he will turn to God more.

This is by far my favorite song. I hope they eventually redo this and the other diff's lucky day songs as lifehouse. This is a great song of intimate worship. All you who think that this is not about God can screw off. Why is this you say? Cause I know what the songs really mean. Jason and my dad have been friends since before lifehouse was lifehouse

I'm agnostic, so I don't exactly agree that it's about God. But, either way, it's about a certain someone taking him somewhere, and not intentionally meaning it, but hurting him. And he's saying that if there was reassurance of the person's existance, then he'd be fine. That's just what I see.

i recently downloaded this song and i love it. what the songwriter meant it to say isn't quite as important as how the listener interprets it. i'm away from home for the first time and in a long distance relationship. this song reminds me of my boyfriend.
"if i could just see you
everything would be alright
if i had to see you
this darkness would turn into light "
i feel the same way as the song...my storm is just college and living on my own without the person i love and need with me.

For those of you who are agnostic, or for those of you who just don't see the religious aspect of this song, I want to say that you have your opinion. It is valid and you all are entitled to your own view. That's the beauty of music. Every lyric and every note can be adapted to whatever you want. What Lifehouse means for what I've seen (and the inspiration that I find from this song) is that this is about God. I really can't see any other form to it. God is the rock in the storm. He is the one thing that will save us from everything that will come against us. I don't mean to preach here, but that's what this site is about; to write what each song means to you. I listen to this song when I'm feeling lost and it reminds me that God is there watching me. He knows what I'm going through and all I have to do is look for Him and pray to Him and He will find me and I will be saved. I want you all to know, so maybe you can find the faith that I've found (again, not to preach or to denounce, just so that the people that were in the shoes I was in a few years ago might follow in my path) that faith is not something that is given to you, that it is CHOSEN. I see this in the lyrics. "If I could just see you" shows it to me. It's a CHOICE to see God. Just like it's a choice to see someone on the street that needs your help. Lol. I'm sorry, this is just a big topic to me. In the end, it's your choice, because I believe that God doesn't differentiate between religions, just faith, but I hope that my words, and Lifehouse's lyrics, spring some sort of faith in whoever reads them, because that's what they're intended to do, or so I believe.

yeah exactly adren.. the greatness bout music and lyrics is that people can see and feel diffrent things in em.. personally i believe you can have faith in alot of things than just god.. love for exampel and yourself.. i have felt exactly like Jason describes it here and that had nothing to do with God.. tho that dosent mean that other people cant see a religious meaning in the song..

I think this song relates to Matthew 14, in which Peter walks on water in the storm at sea to Jesus ("and I will walk on water"), but when he takes his eyes off Jesus, he starts to sink, but Jesus takes his hand ("and you will catch me if I fall") "If I could just see you, everything will be alright" seems to me to be a representation of this--if he keeps his eyes on God he can stay above the "oceans shapeless form" but at the same time it feels realistic, with doubt: "I know you didn't bring me out here to drown, so why am I 10 feet under and upside down?" I formed this image in my mind from the first time I heard it and it fills me with hope every time I hear it.

Although I agree that this songs seems to be most likely about faith in God, when I first heard it seemed like a metaphor for his relationship with a woman he loves very dearly- a love song, if you will.

"how long have i been in this storm
so overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
waters getting harder to tread
with these waves crashing over my head"

How long has our relationship been in this stormy period? It's getting hard to keep my head up with all these problems piling on top.

"if i could just see you
everything would be alright
if i had to see you
this darkness would turn into light"

If I could just see you again, it would lift me out of this and turn my darkness into light.

"and i will walk on water
and you will catch me if i fall
and i will get lost into your eyes
and everything will be alright
and everything will be alright"

If I were with you again, I would feel like I would walk on water (bringing it back to the analogy of the storm and him drowning in the water as a metaphor for the problems they are having), and even if I feel, you would be there to catch me, and so everything would be alright.

"i know u didn't bring me out here to drown
so why am i ten feet under and upside down
barely surviving has become my purpose
cause i'm so used to living underneath the surface"

I know you didn't mean to hurt me, so why am I feeling like I'm drowning in life? It seems like my goal is just to try and keep my life from falling apart, but I've gotten so used to "living beneath the surface" you almost can't tell anyways.

Anyways, that's my somewhat far-fetched interpretation... it definately requires that you stretch the metaphors a little beyond the obvious, but I think it works on some level.

And I agree that the meaning depends on your own interpretation, not on anyone else's... songs can mean many different things to many different people, and there is usually not one single "correct" interpretation.

i personally interpret it as a guy and girl in love moving apart and starting to hate on another . The relationship is the storm, and its getting harder to hold it all together."Waters getting harder to tread". He wishes they could stay together but it hurts too much, "Ten feet under and upside down". And the bad times outweigh the good times." Cause i'm so used to living underneath the surface" He's learned to only expect pain from the relationship. But he wishes to love her again which shows in the chorus.
I know how he feels.

I love this song, it is just so beautiful, both rythmically and lyrically. I think that it can be viewed in two ways. Iether way the storm is his life, he feels that his lifes a mess and hes going through a rough time. I think that this person who is "catching him when he falls" or "making him feel allright" can iether be God or a special loved person. For me I see it more as God, mostly because of the line "i know u didn't bring me out here to drown". I see it as him saying that you (as God) didnt create him to drown, there must be a better purpose for his life that God has in mind.

Whichever way to view the song, I think it has incredible meaning and is just so beautiful!
