The sewers belch me up
The heavens spit me out
From Ether's tragic I am born again
And now I'm with you now
Inside your world of wow
To move in desires made of deadly pretends
Till the end times begin

Is it bright where you are
Have the people changed
Does it make you happy you're so strange
And in your darkest hour, I hold secrets flame
You can watch the world devoured in it's pain
Strange

Climb my ribcage to
The replays run for you
Unhook my lights to peek behind the flash
For I am crystal chrome
I am shatter dome
I am Kremlin king of angels avenged
To destroy the end

Is it bright where you are
Have the people changed
Does it make you happy you're so strange
And in your darkest hour, I hold secrets flame
You can watch the world devoured in it's pain

The zeppelins rain upon us
The guns of love disastrous
A shadow lies amongst you
To defy the future cast

Is it bright where you are
Have the people changed
Does it make you happy you're so strange
And in your darkest hour, I hold secrets flame
You can watch the world devoured in it's pain
Strange
Strange

General Comment:yeah, its an overproduced turd in some ways...but it is cryptic and as sci-fi-ish that the Pumpkins ever got.

My Interpretation:This song isn't about batman. Its a literal interpretation on religion and monetary possession and its affects on realistic sociological scope.

If you watch video's from melancholy and up you see he uses different religious symbols through out his video's and contradiction to themselves with the lyrics. Corgan basically gives a very satirical look to modern day religion and how its used to control people and creates more evil's than it diminishes. Along with how the current culture of monetary possession is what ultimately creates the problem that religion is supposed to oppose. Even though if anything organized religion perpetuates such systems.

Which is part of the retardedness of batman. That ultimately it is the people who have more wealth than is needed that creates an imbalance in the world which creates criminals due to a monetary system and lack of freedom with lack of monetary possession. So The character of batman through Bruce Waynes money helps create and perpetuate criminal activity. An obvious absurdity that I'm sure corgan would have caught as being a play off of god/devil and the obvious absurdities that keep such systems of duality in place.

Most of Corgans lyrics after a certain point should be taken as having socio-political implications, through the use of obscure religious references and should be seen as influence people to fundimentals that lay outside normal religious prospects.

But I'm almost 29 and I've been listening to pumpkins since about 14 so I've seen the changes in corgans wordings, symbolism, and references become sharper and sharper as the years went on as is reflected by his personality from album to album. This usually happens with people fighting the disillusionment that happens once one starts seeing the world through the eyes of reason and not religion.

Personally I believe if Corgan admitted this is about "batman" it was simply to not be obvious of his reasonist intents. Some can claim its the same type of tactic used by the beatles to push different moral standards among the masses. But that's all up to what you want to believe.

General Comment:This song is about Batman. He's talking to his dead parents.

The other version is about Mr. Freeze. He's talking to his not-quite-dead wife.

It seems to apply better to the B:TAS versions of the characters than the crappy versions offered in Batman and Robin.

Also, in the chorus, it sounds to me like he's saying "Does it make you happy I'm so strange," which is how I came to the interpretation he's talking to his parents. The other version it does sound like "you're so strange," which Freeze's wife certainly is (or at least the situation with her being frozen and not dead).

General Comment:Okay, I lied, but I don't believe it's for Batman. WTF why are we writing about Batman anyways? Aren't we supposed to be adding our own interpretations?

General Comment:For God's sake people! This song is not from Batman! It's from Watchmen, and that version is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! The lyrics AND the title are different! Stop complaining!

That one is called: 'The Beginning is the End is the Beginning.'
This one is called: 'The End is the Beginning is the End.'

    Get it right!

General Comment:Yes the batman movie sucked, but at least WB redeemed themselves by using the song for the Watchmen trailer... I was dissapointed it wasn't in the movie.

General Comment:To all of those people who said the line was "Inside your world of wow." Its "Inside your world of woe." I double checked the lyrics that are written here. It clearly states "Inside your world of woe."
This song, I think is abosulety amazing. Very good lyrics and strong meaning.

General Comment:This song is about The Batman, the rights belong to Warner Bros. The Pumpkins were pretty much commissioned to do it. The first lines are about the "birth" of The Batman, the chorus is about his inability to change the world for the better. The version in The Watchmen trailer is one of many remixes, not to be confused with this song and not relating to The Batman.
