The chorus has got to be one of the best in any song ever! So high-velocity, like it is running out of control, like the feelings of the narrator.

I think it's about a girl. Or at least that is the way I like to think about it.

Except the taking myself to a dirty part of town where all my troubles can't be found. If it's about a girl then I'm unsure about that part.

About what adsfkahsdf said, I think that's exactly the point why Lifemakesechoes says it's about drugs, because the lyrics involve the description of a good feeling, but with a nihilistic aspect locked in.

This is a good song, so energetic. The video is also very good, very ahead of it's time for 1991 and filmed completely live. The Jesus And Mary Chain saw the Pixies perform this live and said something along the lines of "Man, why didn't we do it like that?"

I think this is definately about a girl. A girl who is so electric and so full of life that he is charged by her, but secondhand living just won't do...he can't get the chance to show her the real him. He is so intrigued by her that he is like star struck. He feels heavy from her drugs of love and he can't stand up he can't move he can't do anything that he wants to or show her. He is frustrated that he isn't being himself because if he could be she would fall in love with him, but he is so charged from her that he doesn't care for a moment. He flexuates back and forth...so confused. Then he'll take him self to the dirty part of town where no one knows him and there problems are worse than his. Love it!

Great great rocking song! Both the JAMC and the Pixies versions are excellent, and actually not all that different, which might make you wonder why the Pixies decided to cover it.
Lyrically, though, it's one of the least interesting and most obvious Pixies songs, because of course, it wasn't written by Black.

didnt realize this was a cover... anywho i love it.. Its that spark & intensity for someone.
" the world could die in pain
And I wouldn't feel no shame" I love this line because its so selfish.. and how we could all think that way if we all had complete satisfaction. I dunno i love the lyrics.
