Lyrics for Brick Is Red as interpreted by riffic

Brick Is Red Lyrics
A fist is fast
And Jimmy's cast
Hang me

A white moon's hot
The other side's not
Hang me

It's not time for me for me to go
It's not time for me for me to go

My eyes have turned
Just the color of diamond
Just the color
The frayed color of ice

These lyrics are all messed up. It's a "Fish is fast."

"A fish is fast
And Jimmy's cast
Hang me"

Black Francis is the fish. He think's he is fast, but Jimmy's, or a generic name for a fisherman, "cast", or him throwing his line out, "hangs" or catches the narratorfish.

"A white moon's hot
The other side's not
Hang me"

Night fishing. The fish, in the final seconds of life, would see the moon for the first time. Maybe there is a deeper metaphor here. But, alas, he is still being "hung".

It's not time for me for me to go
It's not time for me for me to go

The fish is panicking- it does not want to die. Obviously.

My eyes have turned
Just the color of diamond
Just the color
The frayed color of ice

His eyes go white, or back in his head, and he dies.

"A white moon's hot
The other side's not"...

Black used the lines

"When one side is hot
The other side of the moon is not"

in All Over The World on Bossanova, perhaps he was borrowing it from this song? Could just be a coincidence though.

The meaning of the title still eludes me. Brick is red? What?

it sounds like fish to me, but i always get lyrics wrong. and i don't know how so many sites can have it wrong.

isn't it contradictory: "it's not time for me to go" and "hang me"

the use of colors in the title and song evoke imagery.

it could just be the best last track on a cd Ever =]

A white moon's hot, the other side's not. (He says this again in All Over the World....any connection?)

There's got to be some sort of connection with this song and "All Over the World"....from what's already been said. And don't forget the line from All Over the World, "You can't even speak, fish, all of them speak."

has anyone noticed that the guitar riff to this song is the same as the riff at the end of "hey"? i think this is one of the most underrated pixies songs.

His fascination with fish delights me. Coy koi too, remember?
I'm a Pisces. He can have me.
