Lyrics for Is She Weird as interpreted by riffic

Is She Weird Lyrics
i know you're rich in
good clothes and little things
your mind is fancy
(and your car is bitchin')

is she weird
is she weird, is she white
is she promised to the night
and her head has no room
and her head has no room

your heart is ripshit
your mouth is everywhere
i'm lyin' in it

is she weird
is she over me
like the stars and the sun
like the stars and the sun
is she weird
is she weird, is she white
is she promised to the night
and her head has no room!

no more of this girl cryin'
i'm here, your big man
you're mine

is she weird, is she white
is she promised to the night
and her head has no room

cool song, the pixies rock. they inspired so many bands, and their music is great, yet they don't have any of the recognition they deserve. cobain said that it was the pixies who inspired him to write smells like teen spirit by the way.

a vampire... i really don't think so.
it's this ritch-bitch who has everything, like clothes and a cool car and stuff.
and she talks too much.
and then "he" comes, and fixes her up

I think both Derin and Speedy are right it's about a vamp woman though who leeches off her men to get what she wants

yeah but her head has no room seems to imply she's big headed. And she has good clothes and a goodd car. So maybe she's a big headed vampire who leeches money off rich guys to buy cool stuff.

Anyway, has anyone heard the BBC version of this song? its a lot better.

A vampire?! I think that's really childish. What would a vampire have rich clothes and a bitchin' car for?

Anyways. I believe, yes, the girl is upperclass, but she is still special to him. He doesn't know why, that's why he continues asking "Is she weird?". I think he finds it odd to see a girl with such nice clothes and a nice car, and there's nothing noticeably wrong with her. The line "Is she white" is a clear reference to her virginity, wondering if she is still pure. I don't quite get "And her head has no room"... Maybe he's wondering if she thinks about him at all? If her head has any room for him?

In short, I think he means "Is this girl really who I hope she is?"

Can anyone else relate?

I think its about a goth girl, and hes kinda wondering why shes all goth and whatnot, since shes so rich and basically has everything she could ever want, but then he finds out more about her and sees that shes actually very hurt and depressed, and he wants to help her.

i think its about a rich girl he DOSENT UNDERSTAND. but wants any way. she may be a tease to him." is she white? "pure? "is she promised to the night ?" a whore, hooker.and she apparently has no room in her life for him or just dosent care enough to even think about him,or to say for anyone.its apparant she has no heart she makes out a lot or even blow jobs(she gets around town even if she may or may not fuck them.gee i wounder what he could be lying in?(jiz maybe) i think by saying is she over me could be put two ways:
1. is she over me as if there was abrake up or, 2. is she bigger and better than himas is the sky . well not better ha.
maybe at the end of the song she came cryin back to him or maybe just to sleep with him. he is her big man. and now that she came back the tables turned

Again, I think here Black leaves the appropriate spaces for the individual to fill in as you could take many veiws on this songs meaning, depending on what still infuriates you about male/female relationships. The girl, I think, is not YET rich, but, he assumes she wants to be. Baggage. I've heard many males claim all women want is money. Also, a scorched heart of will be over cautious and assuming to avoid that burn again. You think, okay, what's wrong with her/him? Then I think Black shows the "animalistic" or perhaps unevolved aspects of the whole thing anyway. The girl is cryin' (emotional overload) and the male fills his ego up with taking on the role of "the big man", this satisfaction is naturally human (our animal part) so if a woman has fills this same aspect of herself it is a turn-off. (and her head has no room) we hear alot of how the unevolved (lack of better words) man is intimidated by a "girl" with brains, an opinion or things "testosterony" This "girl" will not fill his head. (Personally, I feel these types have much room to spare, perhaps this is why it used to be that males cheating was more acceptable as it was more common. When the "girls" got to actually go out into the world, they filled thier heads too. But they usually are not seen with the unevolved types. When women filled thier heads they started the ol' wanderlust too! Black has an obsession with "space" and those he feels he knows that occupy these outer areas. I hate the word "alien" but, it's much easier to use. His veiws of them and thier participation in our lives creates the excitement he has to become more evolved? More like them?
In short? I know not the meaning. Sorry.
P.S. Men are evolving quicker and so beautifully! Thank God I was born in these times and not the cavemen days. They lasted longer than science documents I think. :)

I don't think it's that wierd that he would write a song about a 'big headed vampire', as some people said. I mean, they've had wierder lyrics. He was supposedly obssesed with space and aliens. Vampires aren't that far off.

My turn.

I only believe that it's about a "vampire" in the sense that the female the song is about is parisitic on men, she leeches them for all they are worth. Essentially a "gold-digger", she requires a male to provide her with everything she wants and needs.

Is she weird: I think the first part refers to, "Is she a character? Is she interesting? Does she put on a show?" All for the sake of winning over whatever man she is feeding off of.

Is she white, is she promised to the night: It's asking which of the two it is. Is she white = is she pure? Is she promised to the night = does she whore herself? It's summing up whether or not she is used.

The next verse supports the both the idea she is false, only a character she plays, and that she is actually promised to the night. Her mouth is "ripshit" is referring to everything she has to say is a lie, is false, not real. The idea her mouth is everywhere could refer to either, or both, the idea that she is convincing and plays to many men; and/or she is promiscuous with many males. The idea that he's lying in it is saying he's been sucked in by her, she's made him fall for whatever character she's put on for her own personal gain.

Asking if she is over him is after she's used him for what she wanted. She got whatever it was she was after, and dropped him and went after another. However, he's been so smitten by her that he still wants her back. The girl had a talent for making others feel what they wanted to feel, and she made him fall for her, and now that she's gone--he wants her back. He wonders if he is the only one still wanting her, if she wants him back, if she ever wanted him. When bringing up 'like the stars and the sun', it gives a sense that he feels inferior to her, that she was so good--too good for him. As posed before, she is a great actor who can put on a good show and make people feel things they want to feel.

Her head has no room because nothing she knows is her, as said many times before, she is just a character. She has many faces and many roles, she can be the vixen or the good-girl--but nothing real. Her head is too full of everything else to have room for the real girl there used to be, before being taken over by the greed and want of materialistic items that she digs for in others.

When he comes in with the "no more of this girl cryin', I'm here, your big man--you're mine", it's him still in a trance by her. He still believes that she loved him and that he was (and is) her provider. (Remember "is she over me?" He wants her back.) He has probably encountered her crying, which was most likely caused by a guy she tried to win over not falling for it--or her actually falling for a guy she tried to play, and losing him. A taste of her own medicine. So this guy comes back into the picture, trying to get her back, ignoring that she actually only used him.

Hmmm,,.. I dunno but when I heard that song I also initally thought "vampire". I dont know if you know the "pen-and-paper" RPG Vampire: The Masquerade or have played one of the two official PC games or the trading card game.
Anyway, that game is basically about vampires. Except they live in our modern age, undercover, having their own orginazations and battling each other. In that game there's also so-called "Clans" of vampires. One of those clans are the Toreador, who live a life very close to the one of an upper-class normal human. Eg, they live a life in luxury
I have no idea if the Pixies even know/knew about Vampire: The Masquerade or if it even exitsed back in the time when they wrote that song, but the song reminds me of the Toreador. It reminds of their how they (in the game, of course) first seduct the mortal victims, only to suck their blood afterwards.
This could also have been meant in a metaphorical sense of course.

It's more likely to be about a witch than a vampire. Think of the three witches in Macbeth, known as the weird sisters (they represented the Wyrd sisters, characters from Norse mythology, also known as the Norns or Fates).

Wierd and Witch often go together. Fritz Lieber's novel 'Conjure Wife' has been made into three movies over the years, "Weird Woman," "Night of the Eagle" or "Burn Witch, Burn," and "Witches’ Brew" or "Which Witch is Which? (lol?)."

And then there's "promised to the night." Hysteria in medieval Europe gave rise to stories about Witches' Sabbat, a ceremony where witches would fly at night to some remote location and perform rituals with the devil, make pacts with him and denounce Christianity. It's a stretch, but I can see "promised to the night" referring to that.

Anyway, that's why I always think of witches when I hear this song. What it has to do with "is she white" and all the rich girl stuff I really don't know.
