Lyrics for Velouria as interpreted by riffic

Velouria Lyrics
Hold my head
We'll trampoline
Finally through the roof
On to somewhere near
And far in time
Velouria
Her covering
Traveling career
She can really move
Oh velveteen!

My Velouria, my Velouria
Even I'll adore you
My Velouria

Say to me
Where have you been?
Finally through the roof
And how does lemur skin
Reflect the sea?

We will wade in the shine of the ever
We will wade in the shine of the ever
We will wade in the tides of the summer
Every summer
Every summer
Every
My Velouria
My Velouria

Forever green
I know she's here
In California
I can see the tears
Of Shastasheen

My Velouria, my Velouria
Even I'll adore you
My Velouria

It's not just you. Where on earth do they come up with these lyrics?

Is it just me, or does most alterna rock sound like the pixies. Long live Black Francis.

i LOVE this song (::shrugs:: look at my name)

I agree that Weezer sounds a lot like the pixies; generally it's the guitar leads, though. I believe Weezer has listed the Pixies as one of their influences, so that might have something to do with it.

yeah, weezer also completely ripped off "I Bleed" with "Undone (The Sweater Song)". It's so obvious I can't believe it. weezer's a great band, though, although they still don't even come close to the pixies.

This weezer business is all well and good, but what does this song mean? I know it doesn't mean that weezer is a rip off... or you would have went straight to "I Bleed" and "Where's My Mind" to comment.

I'm going to have to go against you all (and the pixies, although i love them so), and go with Weezer's version of this song. I don't know why, I just seem to enjoy the cover more.

I wouldn't defend Weezer, it's only that, there is no similarity whatsoever between "Where's My Mind?" and "Say It Ain't So." Musically nor lyricaly. The only pseudo-similraity I can see is that they both use cresendos... but then you could say that everything we hear today is stolen from classical musicians. Isn't it more likely that two bands, one of which influenced the other, could make use of the same universal musical technique? =-o

First off.........this song is NOT about a woman. This IS a song about drugs and getting high. Second...the Weezer cover is much better I think. Third........Weezer did NOT steal songs from the Pixies, but have listed them under their major influences.

I don't know if I buy the drug explanation....it sounds very much like a relationship with a real person.

I'd love to hear a Pixie's interview where they discuss the meaning of the song.

Woah.. yeah, I was going to comment on this song, but the Undone (The Sweater Song) and I Bleed comment was relevatory for me. It's so freaking true, although I never pinpointed it before.

Anyway, awesome song....

Weezer did do a good cover, Frank Black says he likes too, anyway this song is about aliens that live in the mountains of california! Some beg to differ and say it's about female sex organs, you decide!

williamhop22 is correct. this song is clearly about drugs. i don't think people realize how many pixies songs are entirely about drugs or at least drug references. come on.. 'holy my head/, 'we'll trampoline', 'finally through the roof', 'we will wade in the tides'. it's pretty obvious. people try to look into things too hard.

anyone seen the video? its the band running and jumping over some rocks in slow motion. apparently it got banned for being so boring LOL. As for the lyrics. I usually don't bother to make sense of pixies lyrics ever since I heard frank black say they were mostly bologne in an interview

"Well, the sister continent of Atlantis is Lemuria, sank in the Pacific Ocean, and the remnants of a culture are holed up in Mount Shasta, which is in Northern California - its a hollowed out mountain. They live in the mountain today, because it's an ongoing kind of thing. So lemur skin, fur, Velouria rhymes with Lemuria... kind of, and that's sort of what that's all about."

A quote from Frank Black in an interview with MTV.

I'm sorry, but you just cannot argue that "Undone" rips off "I Bleed". "Undone" uses a VERY common I-IV-V progression that's been around since the 50s, originating from late blues/early rock songs. Besides that, "Undone" is I-IV-V-IV and "I Bleed" is I-V-I-IV, besides the fact that they are in different keys. Yes, you could argue that since "Undone" is a half step down from G, it is in the same key as "I Bleed", but concert pitch takes precedence over simple guitar tuning.
