Lyrics for Infected as interpreted by Zekethesweetpeak

Infected Lyrics
now here i go,
hope i don't break down,
i won't take anything, i don't need anything,
don't want to exist, i can't persist,
please stop before i do it again,
just talk about nothing, let's talk about nothing,
let's talk about no one, please talk about no one, someone, anyone
you and me have a disease,
you affect me, you infect me,
i'm afflicted, you're addicted,
you and me, you and me
i'm on the edge,
get against the wall,
i'm so distracted,
i love to strike you,
here's my confession,
you learned your lesson,
stop me before i do it again
you're clear - as a heavy lead curtain want to drill you - like an ocean,
we can work it out, i've been running out, now i'm running out
don't be mad about it baby,
you and me, you and me,
i want to tie you, crucify you,
kneel before you, revile your body,
you and me, we're made in heaven,
i want to take you, i want to break you,
supplicate you, are incurable,
i want to bathe you in holy water i want to kill you,
upon the alter, you and me, you and me.

I'm going through this currently.

It's simply is saying that you can hate and love someone at the same time. It's about someone trying to escape a toxic but very powerful relationship and giving into it.

Yeah that's me. I've tried to run and he just keeps yanking me back. I tried going to another and paid for it. Something has to give.

Props to BR for doing this on Sunday while they played right in front of me.

No offense but the non-relationship ideas sound off, the "you" and the singer of this song sound too... er, close. And not in an ambiguous way. Very well executed song about a love/hate problematic/abusive relationship.

to me its about interactions say someone as me(athiest and agnostic) with a person fixated on faith and light
of God lurching over them; When they Get to be scared when they start to think outside thier box in the darkness
they look up to the light of god for salvation and bliss.

and what they dont understand is religion or any brute faith in a higher power IS a
disease:

disease: A pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes, such as infection, genetic defect, or environmental stress, and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms.
A condition or tendency, as of society, regarded as abnormal and harmful.
Obsolete. Lack of ease; trouble.

and this disease only comes from human evolution. the more conscious we have become, we are more conscious of thre crushing weight of the unknown. it puts fear in us. And what we do is take the easy way out and look to a higher power for salvation because facing the truth is unbearable for weak people I really thin.

and when they take it a step further and try to rub off this bliss(ignorance) on me I strike them down, because they do affect me, and infect me. and just because they find salvaton through turning away from truth in their mind and believing in some object, being, or idea; they cant believe Im not indulging as well. so they in a way say " just come over here, see what your missing!' and I say go fuck yourself.

thats the interpretation when it comes to religion for this song, which many believe is the deeper meaning, and the way it is for me.

I think this song is about a very common kind of relationship that so many of us have been in...toxic. Where (very often sexually) you're addicted to one another but it's one fight after another, domestic violence (I won't say abuse because very often she's fighting back and causing as much damage or antagonizing it) and you're just downright bad for one another.

It's one of those relationships that when you constantly hear about the problems, after a while you just roll your eyes and hope that one day both can go their own seperate ways and be done with it.

i can't really see the social commentary in this song as in their other songs.

i think its about, yes, a relationship, but one side loves the other so much, it can't say no.

Well allthough im sure various songs will have different meanings/messages for each individual, (and contrary to what some might think, im sure brett or greg are delighted with the idea of individual perception of thier work) ive got the feeling this songs about the battle with your inner voice or sugestive subconcious (at least thats what i take from it) I know people have spoke about its subject being bretts drug addiction, but i think its a great song for anyone interprit (and hopefully untilize) thier own way. Rad Intro too!

you know...

there's something to be said for interpreting the song more literally...

STD's being the obvious solution. I don't actually think that's the case but it would be a much funnier song that way :)

It perfectly applied to my unhealthiest relationship:
It's about a girl who, loves this guy and is being mentally abused by him. He knows it's wrong but just can't help doing it.

I didn't like this song at first, it sounds different from most of Bad Religion's other stuff. I think it's about a relationship where they hate each other.

I'll go with the general consensus that this is about a relationship.
Surprisingly, this seems to be very popular but it's one of my least favorite songs by BR. Go figure. Anyhow, I'm gonna go listen to Shattered Faith instead.

I think this song is just 100% about strong passion and desire. It's some fucked up and intense stuff really that brings intense feelings. That is known to have the ability to make people do (or think) some crazy stuff they otherwise wouldn't.

i think this song is about a very intense love-hate relationship. it seems hes trying to say that he is infected with her love. although he hates her for some reason he cant break himself from her. this song is very ironic in that one minute he is saying how he feels they were made together in heaven, and the next he is saying how he wants to drown her. couples counsiling might be in order.

While personally I still think its a morbid love song, disasterpieces take is really awesome, and has really made me see this song in a totally new, totally geo-political way. Kudos to you and that excellent observation.

For some reason, as I'm reading through the lyrics of the song, I think of over-consuming, over-spending nations who are addicted to oil. We deny the fact that we're addicted to it, but we go to war over it and we use it as a measure of economic growth. It's a love-hate relationship with us and oil. It damages the environment so we hate it, but it also makes our vehicles run, so we love it.

"you're clear - as a heavy lead curtain want to drill you - like an ocean, we can work it out, i've been running out, now i'm running out don't be mad about it baby"

That line means that we (consumers) are pleading to mother Earth to consume all of her resources and her to be understanding about it.

Maybe I'm just looking into the literal meaning, but what-ev.

It's definitely about a physically abusive relationship. "I love to strike you" is a dead giveaway. And when he goes to apologize (other people already touched on this), he blames her. "Here's my confession: you learned your lesson."

at first I thought this song was about two people who are so in love that whatever one does affects the other. The second time I thought it's just about someone wanting to do their partner. However, rape also fits in this.

I think it's about domestic abuse, with the "I want to drill you like an ocean" and "I love to strike you" And I think she wants the guy to get help, but he's in denial and doesn't think has a problem, when he says "I don't need anything I wont take anything" and somehow thinks it's her fault.
