Lyrics for Infected as interpreted by Zekethesweetpeak

Infected Lyrics
now here i go,
hope i don't break down,
i won't take anything, i don't need anything,
don't want to exist, i can't persist,
please stop before i do it again,
just talk about nothing, let's talk about nothing,
let's talk about no one, please talk about no one, someone, anyone
you and me have a disease,
you affect me, you infect me,
i'm afflicted, you're addicted,
you and me, you and me
i'm on the edge,
get against the wall,
i'm so distracted,
i love to strike you,
here's my confession,
you learned your lesson,
stop me before i do it again
you're clear - as a heavy lead curtain want to drill you - like an ocean,
we can work it out, i've been running out, now i'm running out
don't be mad about it baby,
you and me, you and me,
i want to tie you, crucify you,
kneel before you, revile your body,
you and me, we're made in heaven,
i want to take you, i want to break you,
supplicate you, are incurable,
i want to bathe you in holy water i want to kill you,
upon the alter, you and me, you and me.

I love this song. To me it's talking about how two people love each other so much that it's like a disease destroying them.

I think this song is talking about what goes through the head of an abusive husband, or what he tries to put across to his wife. Its an incredible song.

This is a remarkable song. I think it is about an unhealthy relationship. Maybe not a physically abusive one but just unhealthy for some reason. Both people know it is unhealthy but they can't stay away even though it causes them trouble. It is a great song

I agree that it's about an unhealthy relationship, but I think it goes a little further. Like when he says, "I won't take anything, I don't need anything" he is denying that there is a problem with HIM, that it's the other person's fault. And he believes that whatever he does is justified.

you have no idea about the song, and its your song, ROFL, wouldnt be so funny if the meaning of it was different. Also epiphany sounds nothing and has nothing to do with the ideas of this song.

i know what this is about. i swear im not arrogant or anything, but i am in this situation right now. i love this guy, and he would love me, but he has been hurt so many times its going to take him a while. i try to avoid talking to him because every time I do I end up crying, but when I don't call him I feel empty inside. When I see him I feel better and worse at the same time. I need him, but we have almost a disease. In this song, the lyrics say "i wont' take anything, I dont need anything". That's how I am. I'll do anything for him and I won't take anything away from him I only want his love... I'm also the freak out of the two of us, and I want to do insane things like chain him up and such (lol dont but me about this hehe!). I think that every song has a meaning for some people, but this song must have been written for me and him. But without a doubt, its about a very unhealthy yet vital relationship... :-( *breaks out into tears* (and i love this song almost as much as flake by jack johnson... everyone check that song out its AMAZING and so heartfelt) OK I'll shut up now. Latez

i'd like to add that there are some people who enjoy pain with their pleasure, so that whole thing about killing you on the altar IS a turn on believe it or not. just to clear up the abuse thing im pretty sure its more of a morbid fetish in this case... not that i would know......... ;-)

haha.. i never even thought about this song in the emotional sense...
heh it was always understood for me that it was about sadomasochism(s&m)...all the lyrics coincide with the fetish scene...
but i guess that could be metaphorical for an unhealthy relationship...

I use to sing this to one of my ex's cause we were basically co-dependant upon each other, so in a sense, we infected each other.

Hhmm......very ingenious to compare love to "a disease." Simply put it's about how love manifests into you and slowly wears you down.

I figure its about unhealthy relationships allright. How two people keep driving each other into desperation and abuse. But being addicted to each other, neither has the strength or willpower to break away

*prrr* This song makes me think VERY dirty things... This is up there on my favorite Bad Religion songs. When I saw BR live though, Greg skipped the last seven or eight lines, which are the best in the song... *frowns* To me, this song is about a relationship in a guy's mind, it's what he'd like to do to his girlfriend. *shrugs* I read somewhere that this was written by Brett about an abusive relationship we witnessed. *kiss kiss*

This song could be about an unhealthy relationship or about religion....even though I'm not a big fan of religion I think I like the relationship idea more. In any case it is a really good song. Bad Religiong are great at what they do.

i want to tie you, crucify you,
kneel before you, revile your body,
you and me, we're made in heaven,
i want to take you, i want to break you,
supplicate you, are incurable,
i want to bathe you in holy water i want to kill you,

It's about the cycle of an abusive relationship, one minute you're getting the fist then he comes back with roses saying "I love you, it's YOU'RE fault for making me mad" Sure they're made in heaven, a submissive woman is an abusive man's dream come true.

I think the "unhealthy relationship" interpretation is very plausible, but what kind of relationship? A relationship between two humans or between a person and god? This song was written by Brett and i get the impression he's always had a love/hate relationship with God or the notion of God. I get the feeling sometimes he's doesnt know where he stands. Is he an Atheist? Agnostic? Does he believe?
I think his frustration from his uncertainty is illuminated when he says:
i want to tie you, crucify you,
kneel before you, revile your body,
you and me, we're made in heaven,
i want to take you, i want to break you,
supplicate you, are incurable,
i want to bathe you in holy water i want to kill you,

By saying this I think he desperately wants certainty. If only he could destroy God, or the notion of God then he'd be certain of himself, his existence...etc. This just one more interpretation we could put out on the table. Interpret it anyways you want to.

Brett said this song was about an abusive relationship.

"want to drill you - like an ocean" he said, means violent sex or rape.

on the BR message board Brett clarified that it was about his love for a girl (his wife now) and he basically 'inverted' the feelings for each other. Something like that, but I know he wrote it about his own fiancee, at the time.

Brett once told us on the BR message board that it was about his own relationship with his fiancee (now wife) I can't remember exactly how the violence part workied its way in there but he explained it

I think it's about domestic abuse, with the "I want to drill you like an ocean" and "I love to strike you" And I think she wants the guy to get help, but he's in denial and doesn't think has a problem, when he says "I don't need anything I wont take anything" and somehow thinks it's her fault.

at first I thought this song was about two people who are so in love that whatever one does affects the other. The second time I thought it's just about someone wanting to do their partner. However, rape also fits in this.
