Lyrics for Heart of Glass as interpreted by magicnudiesuit

Heart of Glass Lyrics
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

In between what I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine Love is so confusing, there's no peace of mind
If I fear I'm losing you, it's just no good, you tease me like you do

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind

Lost inside, adorable illusion and I cannot hide
I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside
We could've made it cruising yeah

Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass
Seemed like the real thing only to find
Mucho mistrust , love's gone behind

I think it's just awful how Celine Dion has stolen the riff from this great song. What does Blondie think about this?

which celine dion song is it? either way, its obscene that she ripped off blondie. its SUUUCH a good song. maybe this is too simplistic, but i think its just about hurting someone, and being bored in a relationship.

This song is about thinking you are in love, and how a relationship can suck but you are in denial because you don't want it to end. When you think you're in love, everything is great. But when a relationship ends, it turns out that your heart wasn't as strong as you thought. And in between, everything is fine.

i agree more with laddboygrrl. The song seems to be saying that Deb was in love with a guy and it was fun, but he was too needy(had a heart of glass) and that he was jealous(much mistrust) so she ended it. and she looked and sounded awesome doing it.

Great song, Blondie rocks

This song is most likely about someone who thought that they were in an amazing relationship but it then went to shite and ended

The song was originally called "Once I Had a Love" and it was a slower song. But it was changed to a Disco song, since that was popular.

"Once I Had a Love" is on the Blondie Platinum Collection.

An amazing song of how hurtful love can be and how fragile emotions are.

Blondie is amazing!
I think this song may be about how a girl once had love many times before but it wasnt right and she doesnt have it anymore. Also the heart of glass metaphor to me means that her heart can shatter easily and she can't seem to find love and looks in all the wrong places. But thats just my opinion, it's probally wrong but oh well. All in all this is a great song and Blondie is a great singer. =]

Is this verse about anal sex? The whole song could in fact be a metaphor for anal sex.

i thought it was about thinking your relationship was all great, then getting bored with your partner, and finding out they really have a 'heart of glass'.

no?

heartbeats, no this verse is not about anal sex. It's obviously Debs saying she got very bored with the whole relationship. 'Pain in the ass' can mean a totally different thing you know!

i lol@this. P:
looking over that verse, it very well could be, but i don't think that was the writer's intentions. to me this song is definitely about relationships, how they were once good but were then corrupted by jealousy and fragility.

I think she's saying that she wants to save the relationship. She's saying that it was good but now it's fading but she wants to save it. That's why she says don't push me aside etc. And, she says she had a heart of glass because she's obviously crushed but she still loves this person, it's just not as blissful as it once was.

I thought this song was about a girl getting played by a guy who only wanted sex and she thought he was in love with her. You know how the beginning of a relationship can be magical, the guy made her feel great and then dumped her.

I love the slower version of this song, Once I Had A Love (aka The Disco Song). It can be found on Plastic Letters deluxe edition(wherever that can be found....). It was a demo and the words "heart of glass" are not at all to be heard :/. This song is about broken relations. There is more of a sign of anguish/pain in Harry's voice on the orginal. I love Deborah Harry and Blondie =), such emotion.

I think it means she fell in love with this guy and she was sure he was feeling the same and it was divine and the real thing. Then he broke her heart and she has a heart of glass because she opened up her heart to him and became so vulnerable that her heart broke so easily like glass. Now she finds love confusing and can't trust her feelings or the guy. That's what I get out of this song because this same thing is happening to me right now. Guys can be so misleading about their feelings and intentions.
