Well I could sleep forever
But it's of her I dream
If I could sleep forever
I could forget about everything
If I could sleep forever
If I could sleep forever
If I could sleep forever
But it's of her I dream
If I could sleep forever
I could forget about everything
If I could sleep forever
If I could sleep forever
If I could sleep forever

He wants to sleep forever to escape her, but there's no escape.
I thought the song was about someone dying and the one left behind contemplating suicide.
i love this song so much
It's so much easier to sleep, because you don't feel. You're just... numb.
Especially if you've got a broken heart. I don't know if the Dandy Warhols are referring to sleep as in, the actual form of sleep; I think sleep can also be applied to the feeling of numbness, where you can just lose yourself in nothingness.
"Well I could sleep forever, but it's of her I'd dream."
Sometimes the memory of the people that we love the most haunt us, even in our sleep.
It's beautiful and peaceful, and it truly does place you in a world where you're quietly haunted by your own thoughts of love and companionship. In a sense, it's almost a melancholy lullaby.
I would have to agree with what everyone is saying here though. You want to sleep forever and just forget it all, but you can't. And you don't want to forget because it went bad or anything, it's just the way circumstance played itself out.
because i'm such a major stoner and like nothing better than to get high and lie down and clear my mind and just feel things, this song really appeals to me. because this is a feeling song. its about letting go of reality and being absorbed by one emotion. incredibly powerful.
I love how the person above me described it as having a "hazy, sleepy kind of drunk mood" because that's exactly how it feels, I just never could find the words to describe it.
