My sweet Lord
Hm, my Lord
Hm, my Lord

I really want to see you
Really want to be with you
Really want to see you Lord
But it takes so long, my Lord

My sweet Lord
Hm, my Lord
Hm, my Lord

I really want to know you
Really want to go with you
Really want to show you Lord
That it won't take long, my Lord (hallelujah)

My sweet Lord (hallelujah)
Hm, my Lord (hallelujah)
My sweet Lord (hallelujah)

I really want to see you
Really want to see you
Really want to see you, Lord
Really want to see you, Lord
But it takes so long, my Lord (hallelujah)

My sweet Lord (hallelujah)
Hm, my Lord (hallelujah)
My, my, my Lord (hallelujah)

I really want to know you (hallelujah)
Really want to go with you (hallelujah)
Really want to show you Lord (aaah)
That it won't take long, my Lord (hallelujah)

Hmm (hallelujah)
My sweet Lord (hallelujah)
My, my, Lord (hallelujah)

Hm, my Lord (hare krishna)
My, my, my Lord (hare krishna)
Oh hm, my sweet Lord (krishna, krishna)
Oh-uuh-uh (hare hare)

Now, I really want to see you (hare rama)
Really want to be with you (hare rama)
Really want to see you Lord (aaah)
But it takes so long, my Lord (hallelujah)

Hm, my Lord (hallelujah)
My, my, my Lord (hare krishna)
My sweet Lord (hare krishna)
My sweet Lord (krishna krishna)
My Lord (hare hare)
Hm, hm (Gurur Brahma)
Hm, hm (Gurur Vishnu)
Hm, hm (Gurur Devo)
Hm, hm (Maheshwara)
My sweet Lord (Gurur Sakshaat)
My sweet Lord (Parabrahma)
My, my, my Lord (Tasmayi Shree)
My, my, my, my Lord (Guruve Namah)
My sweet Lord (Hare Rama)

General Comment:wish he had left it general so it could be better enjoyed by people of all faiths without turning it into Krishna. It's a shame, what a beautiful song.

And people, don't torture the lyrics. It's not a love song about a girl. It's completely straight forward and it's not code for something else. It's about God and the transition of worship of a non-descript god to a worship of his particular god is his message... he desires the world to worship Krishna and sees the world transitioning the way he did.

General Comment:I understand this to be a song of spiritual love for George Harrison, but if you listen
to it in one aspect it can also be a love song to the one you love...

Song Meaning:To me this song is about reincarnation, and George strategically used the word "Hallelujah" to get past the conservative Christian radars. Can you imagine a pop hit today about enlightenment and reincarnation?? Beautiful song.

General Comment:I watched a rather mind-numbing "documentary" about how this song veils itself as purely Christian at first and then deceives the listener into chanting "Hare Krishna" among others. Even then, I was laughing my ass off at how insipid the implication was. As far as I know, Christian music uses the same tricks to get the listener to start singing about Jesus and His Glory. Whatever, it's just music. Enjoy it before you become one with the Earth.

General Comment:Harrison said the whole purpose of the song was to get people singing 'Hallelujah', and then before they realized what was happening, singing along to Hare Krishna.
Then at the end of the song they would go 'Wait, isn't Hare Krishna supposed to be bad?'

As a sidenote, he got sued because he committed unconscious copyright infringement

General Comment:Love this song. I want it played at my funeral. I love how he explains how bad he wants to meet God but it takes so long to get there. Fantastic meaning. Very emotional song for me

General Comment:I think this is a song not about devotion to RELIGION but spiritualtiy in general.
I mean George harrison was a pretty spiritual guy.
Like finding your spiritual self, and expressing it. This is a beautiful song. Rest George Harrisons soul.
