Lyrics for Fade Away as interpreted by magicnudiesuit

Fade Away Lyrics
When I was young
I thought I had my own key
I knew exactly what I wanted to be
Now I'm sure
You've boarded up every door

Lived in a bubble
Days were never ending
Was not concerned
About what life was sending
Fantasy was real
Now I know much
About the way I feel

I'll paint you the picture
'Cause I don't think you live round here no more
I've never even seen
The key to the door
We only get what we will settle for

While we're living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
While we're living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
While we're living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away, away, away
They fade away, away, away

Now my life has turned
Another corner
I think it's only best
That I should warn you
Dream it while you can
Maybe someday I'll make you understand

I'll paint you the picture
'Cause I don't think you live round here no more
I've never even seen
The key to the door
We only get what we will settle for

While we're living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
While we're living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
While we're living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
They fade away, away, away
Fade away, away, away

this is a great song! "When I was young I thought I had my own key I knew exactly what I wanted to be Now I'm sure
You've boarded up every door " i think he's talking about how when ur young ppl ask u wa u wanna be and they tell u its koo and keep on trying and maybe ull be that when u grow up. but then as u get older they try to tell u its not ganna happen and stop dreaming.

Its a very hopeful song. Its like: Your dreams wont come true, of cause, but "dream it while you can".

Thats definitely what Oasis was like in 1994: Some guys without a lot of money, but with the brain full of ideas. And this song was one of their best ideas.

"Maybe someday I'll make you understand"

This song, like most of Oasis's, is a wake-up call to remember your spirit and why you were put on this planet. Its like a reminder to retrace your past and remember all the things you thought were part of your naive childhood imagination and to think about resurrecting your dreams.

Great song but has anyone heard the Warchild version? Noel on lead vocals with Liam, Kate Moss and loads of others on backing vocals. Its a great acoustic version - check it out!

Wow, good song..... It has great lyrical meaning, about (IMO) having dreams and great expectations as a child, of becoming football players or pop stars, but as we grow older these become just memories, making way for lesser dreams.

This song is great, one of my favorite Oasis songs. The acoustic version with Noel singing is great too.

Awesome tune, first time I heard it, I hated it. The chorus just killed me, but now I've come around.

It's just a great, face-paced rock n' roll tune.

On the Warchild version (which was slow and acoustic) Johnny Depp played lead guitar. This song sounds alot like Help! (Noel's acoustic cover, at least).

I love this song because its about youth and following your dreams, only to realize they'll probably never come true. Even knowing that, you follow because that's what makes life meaningful.

I think this is one of the best songs Oasis have ever done, and there's a fair few contenders. Has a great punk feel to it.

About the song itself, I think the actual meaning is quite optimistic in contrast to what one might think when first hearing it. It really is just about following you're dreams while being realistic about it. We can't all be football players, etc. but we all have our own dreams to pursue.

Sounds like beatles revloution with abit more off the wall guitar sound. Obviously a song bout having dreams as children (on par with d'yer wana be a spaceman) This songs says if you got a dream dnt let anybody put you down (boarded up every door) basically a recuring factor in noels songs live for today. Fade away means we all have dreams as children to be spacemen, footballers etc but most of us end up being office workers or whatever and the dreams we had fade away. However noels dream was to be in rock n roll band so he is saying you can do it as well. pos the best oasis?

i think it has to do with nostalgia. "the dreams we have as children fade away", its just beautiful. what we used to want, we dont want it anymore. what we wanted to be neither. i mean, we all change, we are constantly changing. when it says "as children" it refers to a long time ago. day by day we are getting more mature and things in life make us change our minds unconsciously. we are unaware of it, and suddenly one day we start to thing about out roots and stuff and waht we used to be. "what are we doing here?" or what "where we doing there?"
