    General Comment:I agree with the people who are saying that it's about going up and talking to a girl you like. It would be cool if it were about the government but it seems to poppy for that and plus, this album came out shortly before 9/11 and they hadn't started doing the wire tapping yet(or had they? 0_0)

    It should be "you don't notice 'cause the music's too loud." I think either way is him reassuring himself that that's the real reason and knowing it's not, but "'cause the music's too loud" is far less obvious.

    General Comment:So true, the DJ never does have JAMC Automatic. Unless I am the DJ, that is...its one of my favorite albums. Yeah, I even like it better than Psychocandy! Eat it, hipsters!

    General Comment:I used to think some parts of it were mocking the President and Government. For instance, the title is 'The Authority Song'. I don't really know why, I just thought it made sense in the chorus... It's ironic because he says 'I have no secret purpose', then says, 'I don't seem obvious, do I?' giving himself away. Was this song already out when the Government was considering monitering random phone conversations? I could see this making sense there, maybe..

    General Comment:Jimmy Eat World is one of those rare new bands that have the potential to become classics in the future. They have that happy Rock N' Roll spirit, and it's obvious from the quality of their songs, especially this one.

    I'm not sure what this song means, but it sure as hell makes me smile every time I listen to it. Someone has posted a wonderful live performance of this song on YouTube. Here's the link: youtube.com/…
