John mayer is a very very smart man.. i am a HUGE fan. ive infact been a fan since before anyone knew who he was.. i saw him at a very small venue in dallas before he made his big break... so i have been following up on him for a while and i just love the way he talks. and i love his outlook on things.. like the intro to this song live. ive also heard him do radio shows here and just he has such a way of looking at things. and its so awesome the way he puts things. J.M. is deffinatly my favorite. :-D

this song is basically written about me. another reason i like it so much is because now i know im not the only person who feels this way. and i keep praying that i didnt miss my chance.

I've never related to a song like I have this one. This is one of my fave JM songs. He just absolutely amazes me with his lyrics. They seem so simple, but they are written so well... and you just totally relate to them.

Hey anna, i agree 100%. i'm anti-relationship too but i just love this song. it's so like how we've all felt at some point. lonely and aching for that comfort person. for me it also means that my perfect mate doesn't exist but it's nice to dream once in awhile about him. it's basically a song that kind of gives me an emotional pillow to lay on when i feel kind of alone.

ok actully i have more then one word. i love the live Intro to this song, where he says, "shes out there, hes out there, thier just learning what to contrast you against." i mean wow, i had never thought of it in that light before. it made me take a step back and re-evaluate my stance on people in general. to think that you know exactly what you are looking for, thats crazy talk. the only part that really makes me said is the "could i have missed my chance and watched you walk away" that is so sad. i guess you just need to think positive and hope that if it was ment to be you will meet her again someday.

i love this song.

I love this song..It's how I feel right now and always .. "I'm tired of being alone".. Once I heard it I fell in love with it.. I love the part where he sings"I could have met you in a sandbox I could have passed you on the sidewalk
Could I have missed my chance and watched you walk away " cuz it's true I could of met my mr.right Earlyer and never knew it.. but I'll find him.. and every one will it's just a matter of looking hard enough.. :)

Well well well..he did it again. This is anoher one of his songs that he practically could have written for me. His lyrics in this song, as well as many others of his, are just so real and speak to me so much because I know exactly how it feels to be going though this type of situation

I like the live version as well. I think acoustic guitars make the song more powerful. Just my opinion though.

John Mayer expresses so eloquently (not sure if i spelled that right!) feelings that every person has had at some time of their life. Through his lyrics & music, John Mayer is by far one of the most talented artists around today. He does the best job of expressing feelings that people have a hard time putting into words, and he does so in an amazing way. No one should go through life without having felt the joy, hope, and love that John Mayer's songs bring.

i agree with emopunkfan... and it has the potential of bringing you down... but it doesn't, which is awesome. i love songs that are like that. "waste" by phish is another song like this for me... that just lets me know it's out there for me, i just have to wait... time will bring that perfect guy to me. he's out there.

This is an amazing song that someone made me download when we were both talking about love and life. What makes this song so unbelieveable is how true it is... everyone will eventually find someone, they're out there, you just have to be patient until they come to you or go out and find them. Sometimes you've already found them, and you haven't even realized it yet. Listen to this song when you're home alone on a Friday night and it makes you feel hopeful.

i am going to quote mr mayer "I am writing love songs for someone i have yet to meet" or something to that extent and this song expresses that to a tee. I have to admit that i discovered john earlier this year after hearing 'no such thing' now i cannot get enough. His live song 'The Wind Cries Mary' makes me want to change my name to mary just so i can feel like he is singing to me. I sound like a sove sick teenager and i should shut up. But before i do my favorite line is After all the crushes have faded /And all my wishful thinking was wrong/ I'm jaded, I hate it. I feel like this song currently :/

im the type of person who will be sitting next to someone on like the metro... and just think.. YOU could be my soulmate. we could meet again in 10 years, fall in love, and never realize that we sat next to each other for these 20 minutes. love song for no one puts that thought so beautifully into music. the part where he says "i could have met you in a sandbox" is exactly that. he amazes me every time. he rocks my world.

I agree. This song live is amazing! I've heard the rolling in the hay intro but has anyone heard the "i want it that way" intro hes been doing lately? I just saw him and hes absolutely hilarious! I love him!
