Lyrics for April 29, 1992 as interpreted by The Big Andowski

April 29, 1992 Lyrics
[I don't know if you can, but can you get an order for Ons, that's O-N-S, Junior Market, the address is 1934 East Aneheim, all the windows are busted out, and it's like a free-for-all in here and uh the owner should at least come down here and see if he can secure his business, if he wants to...]

April 29th, 1992
There was a riot on the streets
Tell me where were you?
You were sittin' home watchin' your TV
While I was paticipating in some anarchy
First spot we hit it was my liqour store
I finally got all that alcohol I can't afford
With red lights flashin', time to retire
And then we turned that liquor store into a structure fire
Next stop we hit, it was the music shop,
It only took one brick to make that window drop
Finally we got our own P.A.
Where do you think I got this guitar that you're hearing today?

(Homicide, never doin' no time)

When we returned to the pad to unload everything
It dawned on me that I need new home furnishings
So once again we filled the van until it was full
Since that day my livin' room's been much more comfortable
Cause everybody in the hood has had it up to here
It's getting harder and harder and harder each and every year
Some kids went in a store with their mother
I saw her when she came out she was gettin' some Pampers

They said it was for the black man
They said it was for the Mexican
And not for the white man
But if you look at the streets, it wasn't about Rodney King
It's this fucked-up situation and these fucked-up police
It's about comin' up and stayin' on top
And screamin' 187 on a mother fuckin' cop
It's not in the papers it's on the wall
National guard
Smoke from all around

[Units be advised of an attempt 211 to arrest now at 938 Temple, 9-3-8 Temple, many subjects with bats trying to get inside the CB's house...they're trying to kill him]

Let it burn
Wanna let it burn, wanna let it burn
Wanna wanna let it burn (I feel insane)
Riots on the streets of Miami
Whoa, riots on the streets of Chicago
On the streets of Long Beach
In San Fransico
Riots on the streets of Kansas City
Tuskaloosa, Alabama
Cleveland, Ohio
Fountain Valley, Paramount, Vista Buelle
Eugene, Oregon
Eureeka, California (Let it burn, let it burn)
Hesperia (Won't you let it burn)
Santa Barbara (Let it burn, let it burn)
Mother fuckin' Nevada
San Diego
Lakewood, Florida
Fuckin' 29 Palms

[Need a unit to... structure fire and numerous subjects looting]

[10-15 to get rid of this looter]

UMMMMM ...... how old are you uncgirl and r u from the US? If u were serious about not knowing who Rodney King is here is a brief explanation. Rodney King was a black man that was ver very badly beaten by a group of racist white cops. The whole thing was caught on tape by an amature cameraman. Even with the tape as evidence all the cops were found not guilty by a very racist jury.

i think this song does have to do with the beating of Rodney King. I still remember... I was sitting home watching my tv, and i looked out the window and i saw most of my neighbors (mostly black) no offense. running back to there houses with boxes of shoes , tvs, etc. and on tv there were fires everywhere, and what set off the riot was the Rodney King beating, riots on the streets of Long Beach (where i live) later

It wasn't about Rodney King at all... It was about what all riots are about: mayhem with a front of righteousness. The poor bastard in the semi at the intersection had nothing to do with Rodney King. It *was* about "comin' up, stayin' on top, and screaming 1-8-7?".

I trhink that this song Pretty much specifies that these riots weren't about racism "But if you look at the streets, it wasn't about Rodney King " Basically stating that the riots of which he is specifiying had nothing to do with racism, but more about getting someone's point across or name heard... "It's about comin' up and stayin' on top"

rodney king was a bunch of bull sh*t. the cops were in the right, the scene was portayed all wrong and innocent cops trying to control a drunk person who happened to be black, got screwed over.

This song isn't really about Rodney King, but it uses the riots it created as a protest against authority. It's about how the world is unfair and how you have to stand up for yourself and fight.

i think what they were trying to say is that the roits were from the whole rodney king incident but ppl weren't fighting a destroying for king. they were just doing it to do it or steal alot of stuff. i'm not sure if i'm right at all but it makes sence to me and that the way i see it from the lyrics.

i think he meant when he said it wasn't about rodney king was that the riots didn't happen for rodney king but it just happened to be the last straw for the people and they totally broke out in riot.. oh ya and the stealing too

i think that this song is about all riots that break out because people are forced to live not how they want or are oppresed in some other way. as a socity people need to feel like they are in control of there life and can make changes, when they feel that they cant they fight back and riots are a good way to get a message out to people around the country, however its not the smartest or safest way.
