Down in Mississippi where the sun beats down from the sky
They give it up and they give it up and they give it up
But they never ask why
Daddy was a rollin', rollin' stone
He rolled away one day and he never came home

It ain't hard to understand
This ain't Hitler's master plan
What it takes to be a man
In my mind, in my brain
I roll it over like a steamin' freight train
It ain't hard to ascertain

You only see what you want to believe
When you light up in the back with those tricks up your sleeve
That don't mean I can't hang
But the day that I die
Will be the day that I shut my mouth and put down my guitar
Sunday morning hold church down at the bar
Get down on your knees and start to pray
Pray my itchy rash will go away

Back up y'all it ain't me
Kentucky Fried Chicken is all I see
It's a hellified way to start your day
If I make you cry all night
Me and daddy gonna have a fist fight
It ain't personal, it ain't me

I only hear what you told me to be
I'm a backward-ass hillbilly
I'm Dick Butkiss
You know I lie
I get mean, I'm a thief in the dark
I'm a ragin' machine
I'm a triple rectified ass son of a bitch
Rec-tite(tm) on my ass and it makes me itch
I can see for miles and miles and miles
My broken heart makes me smile

In my mind, in my brain
I go back and go completely insane
It ain't personal, it ain't me
If I make you cry I might
Be your daddy at the end of the night
Take a load from my big gun

You only see what you want to believe
When you creep from the back
I got tricks up my sleeve
Twenty four seven the devil's best friend
It makes no difference
It's all the same in the end

General Comment:On second thought this song is most likely about equality.

The first part could relate to blacks giving up their seat on the bus

And he's saying he's not a fighter unless you provoke him

He won't shut up until he dies

And you might have tricks up your sleeve, but so does he.

A hint to show we are all equal and going to go to the same place when we die

General Comment:You're just giving me reasons to justify yourself.

The point is I'm trying to say that only you can be responsible for who you are.

You can't blame it on nature. Because nothing is natural anymore. The only nurturing aspect of a female is because she has kids. But I'm not talking about a combination of natural body parts and a mind to go with it. I'm talking about decisions we make. Which is what this song is about. Judging. I sort of changed my interpretation because I misinterpreted the opening of the song. Just like you misinterpreted my interpretation.

btw I've taken a course on sociology, and to tell you the truth Boy and Girls are different because theyre treated differently at a young age, causing them to believe whatever bullshit they've been told.

And I'm not saying this song is about ALL women too. Just the bitches. Because you know there are some out there, its inevitable. But to say we are different based on nature is only plausible because women have children. If men are "protective" by nature is that not a form of love? Because nurturing is. Or do you just see the world one fucking way?

General Comment:The first part is him talking about guys "giving up" sex, because most guys are retarded, especially when a women wants to have sex, most will just do it. Which is why he mentions his paps being a rolling stone, cuz his dad was just like that.
"They give it up and never ask why"

The next part is saying how its not fucking science. Guys will have sex because its free, and we like girls for their assets. But Bradley's saying he himself doesn't give it up, because he knows women use men. So he "flips its over like a steaming freight train" and gives them what their asking for. "It ain't hard to ascertain" hence "understand."

"You only see what you want to believe", which is true for everyone. whatever you believe is whatever you will find, because you're looking for it. And Brad's knows the girls are "lining up with tricks up their sleeves", but that doesn't mean he cant hang with them. They just better pray he's not in an "itchy" mood and "flip it over like a steaming freight train". And he won't ever shut up until hes dead.

"Back it up y'all it ain't me" but he;s saying if he does flip the train and make you cry, it "ain't him" just like these girls hes describing in the song justify themselves. So thats all he's doing, is using you like you use others, and then going out for some KFC, and if you got a problem with it then him and Daddy are gonna have a big fight. Because who else are they going to run to?

The next part he explains how he's been shit, and most girls call guys asshole so, "I only told you what you what you want me to be." aka "you had it coming"

Of course someone reading this explanation could be in denial and say "you're fucking crazy." so Bradley says "fuck it I go insane and back" since most guys fail to see what girls are really after. and its obvious considering no one has explained this.. only a guy could interpret this song because its meant for us. not the bitches. Did Bradley ever date anyone? Nah. Because he knew.. this isn't Hitlers Master Plan, its so fucking simple yet so many miss it. But if he does make you cry, the girl might interpret that as "i must like him" aka "i'd sleep with him" aka "If I make you cry I might be your Daddy at the end of the night, take a load from my big gun"

"You only see what you want to believe." and he;ll make you think all of these things, but in reality hes the ones with the tricks up his sleeve. 24/7 she;s the devils best friend. But in the end it makes no difference, God knows your true intentions, and we all go to the same place in the end, whatever it is.

Song is a subliminal ode to how Bradley hates bitches.

    Hence SUBLIME.

you know he didnt just shoot heroin and pick up a fucking guitar. He listened to reggae all the time, he knew music was about relation and education.

Brad is saying he's a lot smarter then you think

General Comment:This is Bradly playing around with words. Every line has a meaning of its own and doesn't relate to the song as a whole. It deals with a number of issues: trying to be a man, running from the truth, father problems, STDs, relationship problems, trying to be someone you're not, mass consumerism, etc. In the grand scheme of things, it never really matters because it's all the same in the end and we all end up in the same place.

General Comment:Even though BlackLung's comment was years ago, I'd like to point out that Brad's father didn't beat him. In fact, he was pretty close to his dad and was a huge positive influence on Brad's interest in guitar and music.

His parents got divorced and his mother couldn't handle Brad's "craziness" as he got older so he moved in with his dad.

    General Comment:The line,

"Get down on your knees and start to pray
Pray my itchy rash will go away"

is talking about his drug addiction. As such,

"Get down on your knees and start to pray
Pray (I won't want to keep doing it), (My need to) will go away"

General Comment:It may seem simple, but I think the title gives it away. No matter what happens, it's all same in the end.
