Ivadell you held is in your arms that day
But look at how tiny me n' Matthew both were
You so strong and full of grace
What stories these pictures can tell
Of days when we bathed brightly in the sun
The medicine of laughter everywhere
Ivadell I held you in my thoughts that day
And wish that they were arms when you were frail
And passing from this place
What stories your paintings told boys
Of hills too steep to climb ascended
And hearts that were not afraid
To flap their wings and fly
But you are safe now and effortlessly breathing
Where new weather will fall on you
Your fears break like waves
Foaming into themselves
Disappearing into the sea
But look at how tiny me n' Matthew both were
You so strong and full of grace
What stories these pictures can tell
Of days when we bathed brightly in the sun
The medicine of laughter everywhere
Ivadell I held you in my thoughts that day
And wish that they were arms when you were frail
And passing from this place
What stories your paintings told boys
Of hills too steep to climb ascended
And hearts that were not afraid
To flap their wings and fly
But you are safe now and effortlessly breathing
Where new weather will fall on you
Your fears break like waves
Foaming into themselves
Disappearing into the sea

I liked the feel of the song anyway, but seeing the lyrics makes it so much more powerful.
I must admit that without sites like this i'd never have got what the lyrics were as they're really hard to make out.
For me, the last verse makes the whole song shine.
Amazing.
Of hills too steep to climb ascended
And hearts that were not afraid
To flap their wings and fly
wow
It's about the passing of his grandmother.
gabe told me after a pop unknown show a few years ago that the song is about chris's grandmother, and i believe mathew is chris's older brother. im also gonna correct the last verse (which is actually the only lyric printed in the cd insert)
"...where new weather will fall on you,
and all your fears break (like waves
folding into themselves, and disappearing
into the sea)."
just had to put it right, its my fave verse from any song.
But, whatever. Still one of the most emotional songs i've ever heard.
