I wish you could put your ear up to my heart
And hear how much I love you
I still dream of December
Dancing together with rings on our fingers
And the two shall become
And hear how much I love you
I still dream of December
Dancing together with rings on our fingers
And the two shall become

The whole song sounds so morose and hopeless and depressing.
I think the first line either means that someone happened to the girl (she left him, she's died) and she physically cannot put her head on his chest, which is why he says "I wish you COULD."
OR, maybe the girl didn't think she loved him enough and he just wishes that her hearing his heart that beats only for her would suffice.
Even the way he sings "I still dream of December..." doesn't seem simply reminiscent, but like he's haunted by it.
The fact that he never does finish "And the two shall become.." makes it so obvious to me that it ended badly and unfinished.
Beautiful song though. It's funny how some of the saddest songs are the prettiest.
Since it is the first day of their marriage, the rest of their lives together are unwritten, "unfinished." The two shall become "one," obviously, but they will also become so much more as they live out their days together as a married couple.
As to the Christian thing (deathislogical and jazzyboops), it's pretty obvious that Chris' lyrics are deeply inspired by his Christian faith. I like them, even though I'm not really religious, but you're not getting it if you think that Christians are just applying Christian meanings to Mineral's songs.
But the last line supports the second theory..he can never finish it the classic sentence "and the two shall become one"..so it's more likely they never really got married.
And about what happened..probably the woman left him...I guess she's still alive..coz he says that he wishes she could know how much he loves her by putting her ear up to his heart..which implies that she's still among us.
But it's so beautifully written...so indirect...but so clear at the same time.
I hope I helped.!
Bye
the first time that i heard this, i nearly cried, and it's not even a song that i directly relate to. it's just that beautiful and emotional. i love how mineral does that with all of their music.
the instrumental intro to this song is one of the most emotional and powerful things ive heard. greatly compliments the song.
