There's a steel train comin' through I would take it if I could
And I would not lie to you because Sunday mornin' soon will come

When things will be much easier to say
Upon the microphone like a boss DJ
But I won't walk up upon the sea like it was dry land
Boss DJ ain't nothin' but a man
No trouble, no fuss, I know why..

It's so nice, I want to hear the same song twice,
It's so nice don't want to hear the same song twice

Rumors are spreading all over my town
But it's just stones and sticks,
Upon the microphone is where I go to get my fix

Just let the lovin' take a hold 'cause it will if you let it
I'm funky not a junkie but I know where to get it
No trouble no fuss I know why

It's so nice I want to hear the same song twice
It's so nice I want to hear the same song twice

Oooee girl
Oooee girl
Oooee girl

Ooee girl and there really ain't no time to waste
Really ain't no time to hate
Ain't got no time to waste, time to hate
Really ain't no time to make the time go away

So mister DJ don't stop the music,
I want to know,
Are you feelin' the same way too?

I want to rock it wih you-ou girl,
You-ou girl, you-ou girl, oooooo
Mmmmmhmmmhhmmm
Don't stop

Cause it's so nice I want to hear the same song twice,
It's so nice I want to hear the same song twice

Nowadays all the songs on the radio,
They all,
All drive me crazy

I have loved sublime ever since I first heard them in high school. Mostly I only knew about there popular stuff off of "Sublime" 1996 cuz that came out when I was a Freshman, I didn't get 40 0z to Freedom till later, but now it's my favorite album of all time. Past couple of years I've been really jamin out to Sublime and learning the lyrics.

STP is definitely my favorite Sublime song and anyone who has ever been tweaked out of there head, scared to leave the house, or maybe just loves taking shit apart will love this song. All that he needs can be found at the STP because his friends are there and nobody is gonna fuck with them.

Still I got my yellow cat
    and my wooden baseball bat
    and my shiny silver gat
and if my hommies got my back
    then I got
    ALL that I need
Look at all the love we found

    I love that part

We love you Brad and we still play sublime at all the best party's, we even hear ya on the radio.
    RIP

My Interpretation:first off in the first section it should be they love us for the kingston sound meaning reggae.

second section has a dual meaning. about the riots, he cant leave the pad because they'll kill him although brad was down with la raza(as he says in the song caress me down, in spanish) and other races but during the riots they woulda saw he was white and wanted to kick his ass. so he's talkin bout stayin in his secret tweaker pad. but at the same time the drugs are makin him think they will kill him, and make him think the pad is hot, aka paranoia. but if you listen to april 26, 1992. he says it wasnt about black or white because he was part of the riots

then he says send matt vargas to regrip, matt vargas is the bro of kelly vargas who did the 40 oz to freedom album because bud was in rehab. anyway regrip is slang for gettin more drugs.

and the last part bobbyjay41 gots it right, its metaphorical about his drug use

General Comment:Smoke a J and listen to this song. It is clearly about being on drugs (crystal meth, presumably).

The last part is an ironic twist on the lyrics to "I second that Emotion" - instead of singing about a woman, as has been mistakenly interpreted by some, Brad is making a metaphor to his drug use.

"Baby you wanna give me kisses sweet
Only for a night with no repeat
Baby you wanna leave and never go
Oh, but your taste of honey's worse than none at all"

He's saying it feels good to get high, but its a temporary high (one night). But he's also regretful that he is a drug addict, saying that the taste of honey (being high on crystal meth) is worse than never having been high at all. In other words, even though he feels good when he's high, he wishes he wasn't dependent on drugs to feel that way, and knows that he has a severe drug problem.

General Comment:ok so there are many mess ups on the lyrics and interpritations (in my opinion)

1:"Have you seen that little whore betty?
Someone said she stole my [?]
And if she made off with my last clean ring
I'm gonna kill that fuckin' ditch pig"

should be "have you seen that little whore betty?
someone said she stole my freddy (needle)
and if she made off with my last clean rig (syringe)
im gunna kill that fuckin ditch pig"

2:"I don't want no money dick, don't want no money down
My secret tweaker pad is now the hottest spot in town I guess
    Take it nice and easy"

    should be

"i don't want nobody come and come and hunt nobody down,
my secret tweaker pad is now the hottest dope spot in town,
i just take it nice and easy"

and he wrote this song while him (and most if not all of the band)
were strung out on a cocktail of diffrent drugs, which if you are as big of a sublime fan as me
you could tell just by listening to the more fast paced beat,
and the way brad is singing.

in essence it is purly a song about being tweaked out and what they did to keep them selves entertaind while being to tweaked

rip Bradley James Nowell you are remembered through your music

General Comment:and also, if you think brad didnt tweek, you have no idea, tweekers prefer to keep that shit on the down low, not something you brag about... y'all are in denial, he's no saint and most musicians do use it

General Comment:the majority of these comments are atraight up DUMB

yes, a rig is a needle

and YES you can shoot up tweek
    you can also
    snort it
    smoke it
    parachute it
    hot rail it
    and keyster it!

STP is a hallucinogenic drug, but in this song it is about a tweeker pad. its nothing about riots and crap, its about a tweek pad... period
