I'm alone
Sitting with my broken glass
My four walls
Follow me through my past
I was on a Paris train
I emerged in London rain
And you were waiting there
Swimming through apologies

I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind
I remember a soldier standing next to me
Riding on The Metro

I was smiling as you took my hand
So removed
We spoke in France
Minutes passed with shallow words
Years have passed and still the hurt
Minutes passed with shallow words
Years have passed and still the hurt
I can see you now
Smiling as you pulled away
Sorry

I remember the letter wrinkled in my hand
"I'll love you always" filled my eyes
I remember a night we walked along the seine
Riding on The Metro

I remember a feeling coming over me
The soldier turned, then walked away
Fuck you for loving me
Riding on The Metro

General Comment:So here is my opinion on it (9 years later)

They are sitting in a room, thinking back to this last time they saw their significant other.
Who is leaving for the military
(I.E - Soldier standing next to me
    Soldier turned and walked away)
And they are trying to enjoy their last day together.
(I.E - And you waiting there swimming through apologies
I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind
I remember the letter wrinkled in my hand
"I'll love you always" filled my eyes)
And as they think back, he feels all the pain has not gone away even though they tried to just forget about them.
(I.E You were passed as shallow word
    It isn't passed there's still a hurt)
Leading to the feeling of hate for making them feel this way.
(I.E F**k you for loving me)

General Comment:Just my opinion, but I think this song is as follows:

He is sitting alone after time has passed, thinking back about their mate(significant other)and the day that they joined the military.
(I.E - soldier standing next to me, solder turned then walked away)
and mate(significant other) was trying to apologize for making this decision
(I.E - And you waiting there swimming through apologies, I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind, I remember the letter wrinkled in my hand
"I'll love you always" filled my eyes")
And thinking about on this memory he feels the pain that has never gone away, and they hate them for it.

    Yeah...

My Interpretation:To me, this is about a guy whose girlfriend broke up with him een though she didn't want to (because of distance is my guess.) and he's heartbroken and angry about it. Amazing song!

General Comment:I always thought it was symbolizing the sort of roller coaster ride in a relationship. From waking up next to her or walking along a river. Happy memories. To parting forever.
