You can't expect to see him and survive
You'll swallow his tongue of thorns
His mouth, dripping with flies
In his glorious kingdom of fire
But I believe he wept
I will make them all lie down
Down where hope lies dying
With lust, you're kicking mankind to death
We live and die without hope
You tramp us down in a river of death
As I stand here now, my heart is black
I don't want to die a lonely man
This is a weary hour
This is a weary hour
You'll swallow his tongue of thorns
His mouth, dripping with flies
In his glorious kingdom of fire
But I believe he wept
I will make them all lie down
Down where hope lies dying
With lust, you're kicking mankind to death
We live and die without hope
You tramp us down in a river of death
As I stand here now, my heart is black
I don't want to die a lonely man
This is a weary hour
This is a weary hour

The "glorious kingdom of fire" - Hell
"Dripping with flies" - Beelzebub is the Lord of Flies
"Tongue of thorns" - Satan used his sharp tongue to deceive man.
My Dying Bride does use religious SYMBOLISM quite a bit.
But I also think it's a man about to die criticizing Jesus and the Church.
'You can't expect to see him and survive' He's saying that Jesus won't return.
In the final of the lyric I think he's dying after blame the church and christ for fool mankind.
Well, they made a video as well, and as You can see on the begining before everything, there is a Christian cross on a church that is in the front of the sun. The guys wanted to make it well symbolic.
I think in the song it is about Jesus, and the church, how he engaged himself to the doomed mankind by suffering so much and crucifiing himself to the good of the mankind which is not much respecting what he did. They alude therefore that the mankind will go to hell thanks to their rude actions on this world.
It is a kind of depressive and deep, straightforward critic to us, but if You go Your life further optimistic it gives You a good kick to live on.
I also think that it has something to do with having to pay for your sins.
