Bleed in your own light
Dream of your own life
I miss me
I miss everything I'll never be
And on, and on

I torch my soul to show
The world that I am pure
Deep inside my heart
No more lies

A crown of horns
An image formed deformed
The mark I've borne
A mark of scorn to you

Consume my love, devour my hate
Only powers my escape
The moon is out, the stars invite
I think I'll leave tonight

So soon I'll find myself alone
To relax and fade away
Do you know what's coming down
Do you know I couldn't stay free?

I shall be free
I shall be free
I shall be free
I shall be free
I shall be free free
Free of those voices inside me
I shall be free
I shall be free

My Interpretation:I always thought this song was about suicide. The lyrics in the beginning seem to represent a sadness in that he wasn't able to be who he wanted and only could dream of what could have been.

I torch my soul to show
The world that I am pure
    Deep inside my heart
    No more lies

    A crown of horns
    An image formed deformed
    The mark I've borne
A mark of scorn to you

In these two sections of the song he's trying to prove himself (Jesus figure), but he feels he must be a martyr to show it. However, his death is different from the death of Jesus because where the death of Jesus was one of love, his is an image of scorning, and bitter martyr.

Consume my love, devour my hate
    Only powers my escape
The moon is out, the stars invite
    I think I'll leave tonight

So soon I'll find myself alone
    To relax and fade away
Do you know what's coming down
Do you know I couldn't stay free?

    I shall be free
    I shall be free
    I shall be free
    I shall be free
    I shall be free free
Free of those voices inside me
    I shall be free
    I shall be free

This part is the actual suicide. He feels he's been used enough and now he can escape from the world. To me, he can relax and fade away when he no longer has to worry about life. Its like an assurance he shall be free.

General Comment:Consume my love, devour my hate

    I think I'll leave tonight

(this is when he was resurected and traveled to heaven)

So soon I'll find myself alone
    To relax and fade away
Do you know what's coming down
Do you know I couldn't stay free?

(fadeing away cold mean how ppl belive in religon less)

And then he is free by being sent to heaven, it seems sort of like a story of his crusifiction and resurection. The song can also be called rocket to symbolise his resurection itno heaven.

My Interpretation:The first thing that hit my mind was a song about Jesus. I should first say that im not a religous person(im an Athiest) and I usually dont interpret songs this way so here it is.

    Bleed in your own light
    Dream of your own life
    I miss me
I miss everything I'll never be
    And on, and on

(ok so he was tortured, and he died for us but wants us to live the life he never could)

I torch my soul to show
The world that I am pure
    Deep inside my heart
    No more lies

(he didnt resist death to make ppl see that he was indeed the son of god)

    A crown of horns
    An image formed deformed
    The mark I've borne
A mark of scorn to you

(the crown of horns is what the put on his head. deformed and and scorn go back to the torture thing and the dieing for us thing)

General Comment:I'll go with Urbancontra here - the search of indivuality within the necessity of others. In the first verse he desires to be himself, to find an identity (bleed in your own light, etc) but at the same time he wishes to be accepted, so hard that he loses self-control and suffers. He misses (lacks) himself, and at the same time he misses (can't be) what he'll never be, i.e. something outside his identity just to please everyone - not that he thinks the others are superior, he just doesn't want to feel alone. Like everyone else, he needs the others.

"I torch my soul to show the world..." That ain't pretty or purifying at all. It's self-destruction and self-denial, faking it only to be recognized, accepted, even if it means you can't be yourself to achieve that. After all, to torch is a pretty extreme verb, right? But deep inside, he wants to stop that. "No more lies".

The second verse is about being rejected, "wearing a mark of scorn to you". This could be making a reference to parents, people at school, friends, lovers - just about any kind of others. The point is, he's rejected, seen as a beast, hence the horns and the mark. It's a deformed image, distorted reality, an image that he (wrongly) sees of himself and thinks that the others see as well. Lack of self-esteem, let's say.

As for the rest of the song, it could simply be a suicide (an escape) or growing over those problems, those "voices inside me". He'll soon find himself alone to be himself, whether by killing himself or by overcoming the whole thing.

Those are my two cents. It's hard not to feel the song talks about you, because it's brilliant. And the music is excellent, like a mantra of distorsion. Hits like a hammer.

General Comment:i think this song is about a person who has realized that he will never be happy. that even at the mere chance that something in his life would make him happy, he would rather just leave before he could possibly screw it up. and the only real way his life will ever make sense is if he is alone, hence, catch his rocket

Song Meaning:First part is telling you this individual is not who he use to be and could have been great"a shining light." anon means another time. Not and on and on
Second part is one who holds the torch"lite of the world"pure of course means woman. He formed a new image for the new world.
Third part you expect horns and darkness but when the viel is removed he is a goddess of light "minoan,palace"......Statue of liberty "crown of horns".No more lies means manipulation.
Fourth part he was taken away from his forbiden love and all that it produced.A masterful cunning plan is his resolve. His symbol is the star and moon "lite of the world"his plan is in motion while he serves his sentence.
Fith part and now you know the fallen angel has lost his freedom and is thrown down in the pit for a millinia and when his sentence is up he will be free again.Mad from solitude. To finally leave the reminder of the love he once had hence the voice "never more" the raven will fly again with his friends as a murder of many.Blaaack biiird flyyyy into the lite of a dark black nite......Poor lenore and her children who devoured man.Never more.

Never understood how this song brought tears to my eyes.So i dared to ask "why".And now you know my reply. No object of matter in this reality is god you can never know with brainmatter only with heart(soul). It is not the end but the begining you will remember who you are if you dare ask "why". Follow the signs that are put before you but only when you ask "why".If ask you shall recieve. I use to think that was funny until i finally listened.Remember you are the reciever god is the giver. Not the other way around.Dont create something for god, it's like a regift "here's my creation i made from your creation do you like it?" "it represents you god." "what if someone pisses on it?" "i dont think so how about just recieving me?" we must find out...Truth all of us. Tread carefully when listening to someone like me. You will find yours if you dare ask,not request. Late!(this means see you later yall)

I know this is what the lyrics say even on the official website, but he does NOT say "the world". It's pretty clear that he says "I torch my soul...to show/That I am pure deep inside my heart/No more lies."

General Comment:When I think of this song, I think of a guy who's been changing himself and trying to act perfect for everybody for all his life. everything he does is looked upon with judgement. this song is him basically just declaring himself free, and just mentally taking himself away from the social state of mind he was stuck in.

    i love this song.

General Comment:I'm going through a crap time the now, almost two months ago me and my gf of six months split up for distance reasons, she's going to uni miles away from our hometown and I've just been down about the fact that I've had really dre luck with women and she comes along and no sooner has she arrived in my life and she's gone.

I listen to this song whenever I'm feeling down, it's better than turning to alcohol every day to sort it all out, I drink in moderation, not in excess. The lyrics just say to me that he's trying to escape from something because it pains him "Consume my love, Devour my hate, Only powers my escape". I don't know, just something I pick up from the song.

I've never liked the pumpkins more than i do the now, they help me through the hard times when she comes back into my mind and songs like cherub rock, rocket, siva and soma help me remember the good times we had and helps me move on a little bit at a time.

We were both big fans of the pumpkins, me more than her and her pet name was "Pumpkins" because one of the first questions I asked her was "Do you like the Smashing Pumpkins?" expecting a "No", or "Who are they?" I got "Yeah, I like Tarantula and Cherub Rock, calms me down and helps me sleep."
