Lyrics for Dopes To Infinity as interpreted by jt

Dopes To Infinity Lyrics
I can see by the hole in your head
that you wanna be friends you're the right one baby
I can see by the moon in your eyes
that you're loved by the tribe you're the right one baby
Hook you up to the coil of the one who makes time with the sun
And who keeps us pumping
See your mind on the hood of my car, and forever in power
As the world keeps dumping down
We are the only ones

Put the earth in the crook of your arm now
Tease it and charm and watch life spray everywhere

I have something more cosmic in mind,
It's a warpage of time
And it's bliss for everyone
Hook you up to the coil of the one who makes time with the sun
And who keeps us pumping
See your mind on the hood of my car, and forever in power
As the worlds keeps dumping down
We are the only ones

What can I say, what can I say

We are all here my friend all dogged and spaced
But all so beautiful
We burn that mountain down and always pump for peace
When possible
We bite ourselves and bite our dog and stretch the flesh unmovable
We are all here my friend
Alive and spaced but all so beautiful

We are all here my friend all dead and spaced
But all so beautiful
We burn that mountain down and always pump for peace
When possible
We bite ourselves and bite our dogs and stretch the flesh unmovable
We are all here my friends
Alive and spaced but all so beautiful

You have never got high if you have never done it listening to Monster Magnet.

Obviously another one of Dave Wyndorfs drug hallucinations.

I think it's inspired by Clive Barker's Nightbreed and Hellraiser stories, specifically the crossover between the two,Jihad. "Tribes of the Moon" and the "one who keeps time with the sun" would be about the 'Breed, and the ones who "stretch the flesh unmovable" would refer to the Cenobites and their extreem peircings.

Only confirmation I have is Dave Wyndorf is a huge comic fan who puts numerous references in his songs.

The referance to "the one who makes time with the sun", to me is more about being able to touch God, as it were, while tripped out on acid, the next line supports this, when he sings about him keeping us pumping, assuming that it is God who keeps us living.

The line about stretching the "flesh unmovable", to me, is about pushing the envelope, in terms of creativity.

It's the line 'I can tell by the moon in your eyes that you're loved by the tribes...' that gets me thinking. Another name for Nightbreed is "Tribes of the Moon".
'Hook you up to the coil of the one, who makes time with the sun, and who keeps us pumping' could be about the 'Breeds god, Baphomet, who saved the various tribes and brought them together as Nightbreed.
Not trying to argue, just promoting discussion.

Nah, I love discussing stuff like this.

The name of the song is kind of a clue, to me. Dopes to infinity, suggests that this song is about a drug trip and the kind of random ideas you have when you are high, and how he feels connected to God and in tune with the universe.

This is a fucking beautiful song.

I think it's about how you feel when you're totally zonked out on a psychadelic, a place where nobody judges anybody and everybody is able to work together and live in peace. A place where it's cool if dogs bite people because "We bite ourselves and bite our dog".

sorry to burst some bubbles but here's what dave said on his website: "Thing is, I havn't done drugs or even drank in years and years. Hell, I stopped pot and drugs in the early 80s and drinking in 96! And I would hardly call my Benzo binge a creative period. Quite the contrary.

What I'm trying to say is that if there's any change in future music, good or bad, it sure as hell aint cause of drugs. There isn't one MM song that was written stoned. Not one MM album that was recorded stoned. I know it sounds boring but it's true. "

but monster magnet still rules and i can't figure out how to express the meaning in half the shit in their songs. all i know is that listening to them connects in a level deeper than words, shattering perspective and lining up planets
