Lyrics for Ana's Song (Open Fire) as interpreted by spitfirek7

Ana's Song (Open Fire) Lyrics
Please die ana
For as long as you're here we're not
You make the sound of laughter
And sharpened nails seem softer
And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow

Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you

Imagine a pageant
In my head the flesh seems thicker
Sandpaper tears corrode the filth
And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow

Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you

And you're my obsession
I love you to the bones
And ana wrecks your life
Like an anorexia life

Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you
Open fire on the needs designed
Open fire on my knees desires
On my knees for you

I wish Silverchair would have produced an acoustic version of this song. This is one of those songs that everyone knows about and bruns lighters at the concert due to the wonderful lyrical element and passion in this song. Expression of pain is the key to survival, and in that case, he will survive forever.
Listen and Feel.

zero36 is right. it's about daniel (lead singer) and his trouble surviving life with anorexia. if you read the words, it's amazing the metaphors and meanings he puts into it.

And you're my obsession
I love you to the bones
And ana wrecks your life
Like an anorexia life

"ana" is a term for "anorexia" i do believe. it's about daniel when he had anorexia :\
"in my head the flesh seems thicker"
like when people who have anorexia get too thin & they still see themselves as being overweight.
anyways, this song is very wonderful & beautiful in a dark kind of way. i think it captures feelings really well.

Daniel Johns went through a period of time in which he was suffering from anorexia. That's what this song is about, plan and simple. Ana = anorexia. It's an obvious meaning, and it's been pointed out by Daniel Johns himself in many interviews. Sometimes I think people try to hard to find meaning in something that they over look what's obvious.

Someone already mentioned before but to kind of cement the meaning, people sometimes call Anorexia "Ana", as they would Bulimia "Mia"

Silverchair is my all time favortie band. This song was written by Daniel Johns(lead singer) when he had Anorexia. Another term of using the word is "Ana". In the beging Daniel became a vegetarian, later he would devolp many phobias, including a fear of crowds, leaving home, and food. He thought certain shapes of food felt like razors going down his throat and at restaurants, he was always suspicious, thinking perhaps his food was poisoned. This later developed into a type of 'anorexia,' and is the story behind 'Ana's Song (Open Fire)

i acctually disagree with all the notes so far posted.
i think it is about self abuse not anerexa but more of a loving of pain and suffering ex cutting or obsessive compuslive, espically that become clear when u look at the lines
In my head the flesh seems thicker
Sandpaper tears corrode the filth
And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow

to me it seems he is either talking about a friend or himself or both when he is saying corrode the film and th flesh seems thinker, like ur cutting and its thicker then u wish so to cut harder and he is on his knees to the power of addiction to pain
