Lyrics for Morning Glory as interpreted by kevin

Morning Glory Lyrics
(song begins with helicopter sound FX)
(radio conversation between a man and a woman mumbled in the
background, but I can't understand what they're saying)
(FX and radio fade out to background music, then the lyrics begin)

All your dreams are made
When you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon
Walking to the sound of my favorite tune
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess you might as well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
You need a little time to wake up wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up wake up
(guitar solo)
All your dreams are made
When you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon
Walking to the sound of my favorite tune
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess you might as well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
You need a little time to wake up wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
(I said) well
Need a little time to wake up wake up
(yet another guitar solo)
(back to helicopter sound FX)
(more mumbled radio conversation, then song ends)

Battling to come out of an addicition (not necessiarily a drug) or a depression?

Todays the day that all the world will see -
This line really sums up the song to me, the whole process of coming out of this bad headspace is too show the fuckers who don't believe you can do it. Showing the whole world your a stronger / better person than your friends or family or girlfriend etc. think you are.

Tomorrow never knows what it doesnt know too soon -
The next day is never going to be what you expect, you could come out of the state of mind or go back.

Need a little time to wake up -
Recognizing whats going on, need some time to yourself / some peace of mind.

Whats the story Morning Glory? -
You've batteld those demons, time for a new start. Whats the next? Whats the story?!

Thats my two cents about it. My favourite Oasis song ever I think, closely tied with Slide Away, Listen Up & Headshrinker

One song can have a thousand meanings, that's what makes them special.. they mean something different to everyone right? but well i actually agree with "lindseelewis" i think. The song is obviously about drugs but it might be about how you are "chained" to them and it's better to stop. It's true that Noel has been an addict, but it's also true that he has said before that eventhough he used them and he enjoyed every minute of it, if he could go back maybe he wouldn't do it because he knows that they are addictive and he doesn't like to depend on anything. He also says that he knows that drugs "at the end destroy" so i guess that he could be talking about leaving them.

Completely personifies the Oasis sound of the 90's. This song, I think doesnt really have a particular meaning but not all songs have to have a meaning. Not my favourite from the Morning Glory album but I still like it as I do with all Oasis songs.

I think that this song's a metaphor of drugs. Like, Morning Glory IS a drug. Since it has the word morning in it, Noel probably thought of a metaphor for drugs.

I dunno. I'm probably just thinking stupid things. But from what I'm reading from everyone's thought of the song's meaning, I've realized it's about drugs, and Liam and Noel had actually been drug addicts.

So anyways, anyone wanna correct me at that?

A Morning Glory is also a flower that last for one evening(usually) and then dies. Why can't the drugs be the guys "blooming"? The drugs get them through the day and then they wake up a new flower in the morning. "Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon Walking to the sound of my favorite tune Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon" I take those lyrics as just going out into the world, not knowing what is going to happen.

All your dreams are made
When you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
-everything is out of your control when you're chained and can't escape from "the mirror and the razor blade," which refers to doing a line of cocaine

Today's the day that all the world will see
-you can't hide it anymore, everyone knows

Another sunny afternoon
Walking to the sound of my favorite tune
-let's say the favorite tune is "high", walking around high

Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon
-you're clueless if you don't find out while you're ahead

Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind
-you need to take some time to realize, you need to take some time to sober up and think

You know you should so I guess you might as well
-you know you need to overcome your addiction, so you get started on it
What's the story morning glory?
whats new? the begining of something magnificent

its about growing up (shaving)
its about enjoying life and just going with the flow

How about the reference to "Sunny Afternoon" by the Kinks, another drug-related song? Just more evidence the influence of drugs on the band. Great song tho...

I agree with the drug refefence but dnt 4get the '(Tomorrow never knows) what it doesn't know too soon' beatles song off revolver album. the song is well postioned on the album WTSMG a couple of lighter numbers shes electric and cast no shadow then blows you away with a rocking jimi hendrix helter skelter cross of what's the story then end on a ballad of Champagne Supernova that makes let it be look like child play.

All of you go listen to some crappy emo music, it's clearly about drugs, deal with it.

For fuck's sake.

(And yes I know it can be interpreted in different ways. If I ever get round to making the movie I'm writing - unlikely - this song will be used in the context of self-harm, drinking too much and general depression. So yes I can see many different ways it can be interpreted, but it's about cocaine.)

any irish people might have noticed an article in the irish times (that 'weather eye' column, at the back) which offers an altogether different interpretation of this song.

apparently, the song refers to a ''meterological phenominon'', the formation of ''a huge roll cloud that often forms at this time of year over australias north coast''. who knew?

the writer also uses a 'single quote' that consistes of a line from 'shes electric' and two lines from morning glory that dont actually come together anywhere in the song.

Anyone notice how many Oasis songs are just one verse and one chorus?? Then they just repeat the same verse later along with the chorus a few more times? Lazy songwriting if you ask me, great song though. Imagine how great it would be if there was more than 1 verse/chorus repeated over and over.

Uhhh...Morning Glory is also a vine-dwelling flower. It's seeds (when uncoated) are contain LSA, a hallucinogen and relative of LSD. I took a few morning glory trips a while back, and they're a bit like LSD.

I also think it is about drugs, but I think it's about him telling a girl he respects (or used to) how much the addiction has a hold on her life.
I thought it was like he was asking her why shy would throw her life away on something like that when she had so much more going for her.
"All your dreams are made
when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade"
Means to me:
"You've got no where to go (no new dreams or original thought) when you're addicted to coke"

personally, i think that its just about getting up in the morning and feeling kind of run down and unimportant.

the radio and helicopter=the noises that wake you up

All your dreams are made
When you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
=
geting up and shaving, even though you dream of a better, less monotonus life.

todays the day that all the world will see=deciding to do something about your crappy life, and show the world that you're worth something.

need a little time to wake up.....=when you wake up, you're really tired, and you know that you have to go to work, but all you want to do is lie there and sleep away your meaningless life.

morning glory...= well, im undecided about this. the first time i heard it, i thought that it was a kind of sarcastic barb, implying that he is happy in order to ridicule how crap he feels.
however, i know morning glory means erection, and it does fit in to my version of the song (the best part of your day is that little bit of pleasure that you get from waking up with a boner). im leaning towards this definition at the moment.

but i deffinatly dont think its drugs. just because the author once had an addiction, dosnt automatically mean that all of his songs are about drugs. plus it dosnt really fit in to my version.

thankyou for listening (or reading, or whatever) to my opinion.
