Lyrics for Cavanaugh Park as interpreted by aur0ra

Cavanaugh Park Lyrics
At Cavanaugh Park
Where I used to sit
All alone in the dark
And dream about things
That I cannot say
you always said destiny would blow me away
And nothing's gonna blow me away

At Cavanaugh Park
Where you used to take me
To play in the sand
And said to me, "Son, one day you'll be a man.
"And men can do terrible things."
Yes they can

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change
Never do change

At Cavanaugh Park
We used to get high
Watching teams as they fought
They loved my friend Adam
But he always got caught
Man, that kid made fucking up look cool
Aren't we all so cool now? No

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change
Never do change

Never do change
Never do change
Never do change

At Cavanaugh Park
Where I used to think
That my life would be good
And I would do things
That I thought that I should
And no one's going to tear me down

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change
Never do change
Never do change
Never do change

This is my favourite SoCo song, although all of their songs are gorgeous. The CD is GREAT!
I saw them perform in January and after the concert all 5 of them just hung out-- signing autographs & talking with fans. It was so amazingly nice. What an amazing band.

I don't really like emo, or SoCo anymore, but this song, and Punk Rock Princess are really good. Well, except the last verse in the song.

this is by far the best song on the LTTW cd- not only is the music great but they are waay beyond the teeny-bopper-no-meaning-surface songs--> this stuff is so deep! you cant help but feel the power and emotion in this song, especially since the only good way to listen to it is w/ ur stereo as loud as possible lol! great music, great lyrics... -wow-SoCo rocks, all hands down

THIS IS A SONG ABOUT GROWING UP AND LOOSING INNOCENCE, AND GROWING UP SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED AND DISILLUSIONED. Andrew uses Cavanaugh Park as a symbol/motif. I think we can all relate this a little bit.

I agree that this song is about growing up, but I also think it's about someone who can find his place in society, like he doesn't fit in..."there was never anyplace for someone like me to be happy"....this song kinda makes me sad....

I agree SoCosPunkRocPrnses. This song is one of the best off of LTTW. I personally like the ready break version better, but this version is more cleaned up. beautiful song.

"Son, one day you'll be a man, and men can do terrible things, yes they can."

I can relate to this song so much, it's undescribable. - "there was never any place for someone like me to be totally happy" I love the part when Andrew sings "They loved my friend adam but he always got caught, man that kid made fucking up look cool"

This Song is about Andrew's life when he was growing up, canvanugh park is not a real place but in rhetrospec his life and how it evolved and how it relates to us and me or whomever, basically hes saying you will always have youtr childhood to look back on and see how it has evolved from there...

+coughs politely+

Doesn't anyone else seem to think that this is a song about a depressed man who reminesces about old days? A druggie or a college drop out who misses the times when everything was OK?

Just curious. It's the impression I get.

Doesn't every single one of us have our own 'Cavanaugh Park' somewhere in the world? The park is Andrew's link to his entire life, from early childhood up to the present day, the park has always been there, whether he was a small child with his dad, hanging with his mates in his school days, and reflecting on his own in later life. In loose terms, we all have a special place to us like this.

absolutely love this song. Cavanaugh Park was an actual place where andrew and a few of his friends came across some time, and he decided to use that as a metaphor for childhood.

flawless. soco never fails to do anything less.

I love this version because it has the strings in, which add to the emotion, I love this song so much! It makes your heart stop sometimes with the lyrics and the tune, I just love the whole composition of it!

It's an amazing song. I'm just getting into Something Corporate, although I've listened to this and Konstantine (another absolutely beautiful song) for a couple years. I just don't know what to say about it besides its obvioius brilliance.

To me. It's about accepting the fact that somethings don't change. I reminds of alot stuff form my home growining up.
