Lyrics for Cavanaugh Park as interpreted by aur0ra

Cavanaugh Park Lyrics
At Cavanaugh Park
Where I used to sit
All alone in the dark
And dream about things
That I cannot say
you always said destiny would blow me away
And nothing's gonna blow me away

At Cavanaugh Park
Where you used to take me
To play in the sand
And said to me, "Son, one day you'll be a man.
"And men can do terrible things."
Yes they can

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change
Never do change

At Cavanaugh Park
We used to get high
Watching teams as they fought
They loved my friend Adam
But he always got caught
Man, that kid made fucking up look cool
Aren't we all so cool now? No

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change
Never do change

Never do change
Never do change
Never do change

At Cavanaugh Park
Where I used to think
That my life would be good
And I would do things
That I thought that I should
And no one's going to tear me down

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change

And there was never any place
For someone like me to be
Totally happy
I'm running out of clock and that
Ain't a shock
Some things never do change
Never do change
Never do change
Never do change

the chorus in this song totally relates to me. This band is just overall great. They express so much in each of their songs. They are an amazing, underground band.

If there was ever a song that I could relate to it would be this one. When he is singing about not finding that "happy place" I feel that everyday! Most definitly 1 of the best songs ever written!

This song means the absolute world to me. "there was never any place for someone like me to be totally happy" is me in a nutshell. everything SC does is rediculously brilliant. i can't ever ever get enough. i downloaded a bunch of songs and made a cd, and we're going on month 3 and i haven't changed it. you can feel the emotion through the stereo and just kinda wanna give andrew a hug and say "yeah. i know that feeling" something corporate rules me to the max. =)

"Man, that kid made fucking up look cool" everyone has friends like that... everyone has hang out spots like Cavanaugh Park... this song is the gospel truth. Hard to pull off incredibly simple yet incredibly complex lyrics like this. SoCo forever (and say no to if you c jordan... that song is trash!)

i just saw SoCo live for the second time, and they are amazing! The lyrics in this song are completely true to me. somethings never do change. and at the beginnign when he says, "At Cavanaugh Park Where you used to take me To play in the sand and said to me, "Son, one day you'll be a man.
"And men can do terrible things."
Yes they can
that kills me, it makes me cry every time!

This song sounds so much better on Leaving Through The Window then on their first CD. It truly is awesome, I can't wait to see them at Warped Tour!

I love the new version of this song with the violins and just the way everything flows together.
The only thing that i makes the older better is that in the newer version they cut out the line "'cause Grandma said destiny" and changed grandma to you. I loved that line in the older song, it was my favorite.

A great song... it manages to go from when he was a little kid playing with his father ( "Son, one day you'll be a man.
"And men can do terrible things.") to hanging out with his friends ("We used to get high watching teams as they fought") to his getting older and looking back on his life ("I used to think that my life would be good"). SoCo has such an incredible range to tackle the story of a person's entire life and pull it off so wonderfully.
