On my heart I'll bear the shame
No prayer can ease the pain

No one will love you
No one will love you the way I do
No one will love you, love you like I do

And there's no escape
Just countless mistakes

No one will love you
No one will love you the way I do
No one will love you, love you like I do

It will never be the same
Witness trust fade away

No one will love you
No one will love you the way I do
No one will love you , love you like I do

No one will love you
No one will love the way I do
No one will love , love you like I do

Love you like I do
Love you like I do
Love you like I do
Love you like I do

My Interpretation:I can really relate to this song. I am in love with my best friend, but alas my love is unreciprocated. So my interpritation is he's saying that no one can love this girl the way he does. And, as cliche as it is, it is true for me. He can find himself a girlfriend, but I can love him in a way that no one else can. The lyrics "On my heart I'll bear the shame. No prayer can ease the pain" in my case means that I'm ashamed that I couldn't earn his love and shame/embarassment of making a fool of myself for falling for him and telling him. and the pain of it all is impossable to ease. "And there's no escape, Just countless mistakes" means that I can't escape the memories, good and bad and that my mistakes haunt me and beat me down. "It will never be the same." means that things between us will never truly be the same becausewe know eachother's feeling. "Witness trust fade away" means that my/his self-trust and the trust between us will falter because I won't trust my thoughts to stay in my head and we can't trust in the emotions that we potray I.E. He gets a girlfriend and I say I'm happy for him when I want to cry. But I'd still be happy for him. Well now it's starting to sound like a blog XP But yeah, that's what I feel about the song.

General Comment:To me, it is definitely the breaking of a relationship. Mistakes are made that cannot be undone (it could be either party or perhaps, both) and that the scars will forever mark the heart of the singer.

General Comment:I don't think it's about Christ or Satan. I think it's written from the point of view of an unfaithful party of a relationship.

    This is my interpretation:
Valo, or whomever he's taking the role of, has cheated on his partner (this is shown in the lines about his heart bearing shame, and the countless mistakes).
And now in the song, he's proclaiming his love for her, possibly wanting forgiveness, even though it's useless, because trust has "faded away."

General Comment:WARNING: In this comment I will discuss religious themes, and I in NO WAY mean to imply that H.I.M. adhere to any religion. If you can't understand how this could work, or why they might want to use religious themes, don't bother reading the comment.

Fuck, this song is genius. If you really listen to the words and try to understand what his intentions were, at first it seems like this could be Christ singing, since Christ's love is supposed to be the ultimate love. But then you hear the music and it becomes REALLY ambiguous. There is the sound of what could be a harp--played by a guitar. Then you have the sounds of a dark, gothic cathedral. Valo's voice goes really low. So you start to think, this isn't Christ singing, but Lucifer. It could work for Satan, because in mythology Satan does tempt you with "love," and ("and there's no escape, just countless mistakes") of course no one escapes from Hell. At the same time, it still COULD be Christ singing, but it's after he's been crucified. So when he sings, "It will never be the same
Witness trust fade away" it's like saying that now you have to PROVE your love to him, because after being crucified as a false mesiah he has no trust in humanity.
Furthermore, if you don't want to take it as being purely about religion, then Valo is comparing himself/the singer to God/Satan (depending on which you ultimately take it to be) in a romantic relationship.

General Comment:Yeah, I kinda know what you mean. But for some reason the drunken sailor voice really works in this case. :-)
