Lyrics for Join Me In Death as interpreted by Fistan

Join Me In Death Lyrics
We are so young
our lives have just begun
but already we're considering
escape from this world

and we've waited for so long
for this moment to come
was so anxious to be together
together in death

Won't you die tonight for love
Baby join me in death

This world is a cruel place
and we're here only to lose
so before live tears us apart let
death bless me with you

Won't you die tonight for love
Baby join me in death

this live ain't worth living

hey..im not jewish myself..but i was just wondering something...some ppl said that the heartagram is a mix between love and evil..so if the heart represents love...then is that saying that the pentagram represents evil- thereby dissing jewish people and their religion??

The pentagram isn't the jewish symbol, the symbo of the jewish race, is the star of david, and has 6 points, a pentagram has 5 points and a circle around it and it is a pagan symbol. I guess if Valo used it to represent evil, it's either because he views paganism as evil or because of the strong links that the pentagram also has to satanism/devil worship (the pentagram is also used to form the goat of mendes symbol, where by the face of the devil, represented by a goat, is placed within the star).

i cant see why everyone refers to HIM as one person, there is 5 in the band! and ville is a pagan not a jew, he was never baptised and isnt a satanist even though he has explored both christianity and satanism...the only reason he includes satanic lyrics are because he is showing the relations between love and death hence the heartagram. the meaning of the song is obvious yeah? its about the story of romeo and julliet...some monks did a cover of it...now that would be funny to hear!

My mate looks the spitting image of Valo, everytime anyone tells him he gets pissed off and tells them to "go fuck yourselves, HIM are shit and I don't fucking look like that goth fag!!!", so I started doing it more and more now that I know he hates them too.

Just thought I would enrich your lives by telling you all that...

quiffporn,
not to piss people off by getting into techincalities, but the pagan symbol is called a "pentacle" and the star is pointing up, where as the "pentagram" is satanic and is pointing down.

quiffporn, i would like to meet your mate...anyone looking like ville must be a god. ohhh yes! ;-)

It is so funny to watch all the girls wearing Him T-shirts or with heart-o-gram tattoos, following him around, because he hates HIM so much (maybe even more than me!), he has this look of utter distain on his face for them.

I have actually seen a group of girls in Bam shirts, doing a double take as they walked past him in the street!

I just have to comment on the use of the word "plank" as an insult. It was inspired and funny as hell.

Great band, decent song, annoying people who react to shit stirrers by yelling at them.

Please know that this is NOT a good representation of most of the fan base (with the obvious exception of the intelligent posts...they're actually the majority of HIM fans).

IAmTheEveningStar I thought I would point something out to you. A pentacle and a pentagram are basically the same, except the cle on the end on pentacle means its surrounded by a circle. It doesnt mean its upside down. Jess x

quiffporn - what is your actual reason for not liking him? its easy to call their music fucking shit and that ville valo is a goth fag and they all suck dick etc etc etc but do you have an actual reason? fair enough if you dont like a band, but ur not doing much justice to ur reasons by simply reducing them to mindless and derogatory comments about the band. if you dont have a real reason for not liking them, besides thinkin their satanic and pussys and dress like goths, then stop the comments. music is meant to be appreciated, and it shouldnt matter who creates that music, be they pussys, punks or goths. cant we just say we like or dont like music without being crucified for it? theres no need to start personally assaulting a band because you dont like the people in it. i love him, they're one of my fave bands. shit - here comes another stupid fucking music war. we're individual people! get used to it!

also desert fox - how has bam ruined the band? i dont think he has at all, he's just a fan. also without bam publicly supporting him, i dont think that they would have a large a fan base as they do now. they wouldnt be as successful and wouldnt tour nearly as much. so we should be thankful that him are more successful, so they can keep bringing us good music and giving us an opportunity to see them live. what do you reckon?

I think that everyone that's a HIM fan knows what the hell HIM stands for, we don't need you to remind us.

People interpret things differently...so something Ville wrote could well mean something else to another person. That's the beauty of being a good songwriter...being able to write a song that has a special meaning to you and others can relate to it or yet others can either interpret it as something different. There are lots of songs out there that have been written by 'non-satanic' bands that have a more morbid/satanic significance then those of HIM. For an example, A Perfect Circle is not a satanic band...yet he writes about necrophilia. Or at least some people construe it that way. Also, Afi is not a satanic band yet Davey sings about demons ("I watch the stars as they fall from the sky. I held a fallen star and it wept for me, dying. I feel the fallen stars encircle me now, as they cry"). Therefore, I don't think you should judge HIM's music based solely on the lead singer's religious beliefs or the lack thereof. Music has been here since the beginning of time…given to us for us to use as a form of expressing ourselves and we shouldn’t degrade someone’s writing because of our narrow-mindedness. So you should listen to HIM’s music and analyze their lyrics with an open point of view…not a head-set idea that every meaning to his every lyric has some sort of dark satanic meaning. And if you can’t relate to it and if your STILL not interested in it…ok not everyone is going to like the same thing. That’s what makes us all unique. ;)

Also, I’d like to clarify that the heartagram is not a satanic symbol. And for you ignorant people out there…neither is the pentagram.

The five pointed star was copied from the star shaped pattern formed by the travels of the planet Venus in the sky. The emblem remained popular through many cultures and time periods- it was called the pentalpha by the Greeks, who believed it had magical properties. For a time, it was the official seal of the city of Jerusalem. In later times, it was used by medieval Christians to symbolize the five wounds of Christ, and figured in the heavily symbolic Arthurian romances. It also represents the proportions of the human body. It was not until the twentieth century that the symbol became associated with Satanism, probably due to MISTINTERPRETATION of symbols used by ceremonial magicians.
In alchemical texts, the four elements (in Latin)- flatus, ignus, aqua, terra, superseded by light, or divine energy- illustrated the process of creation- Fiat Lux, or, "let there be light."
In Wiccan/Pagan lore, the pentagram symbolizes the five elements- earth, air, water, fire, and spirit. The Wiccan emblematic pentagram faces point upward to symbolize the triumph of spirit over matter; the Satanic pentagram is transposed, point downwards, to symbolize earthly gratification, or the triumph of the individual over dissolution.

The heartagram was created as a LOGO for HIM (THIS IS NOT BAMS SYMBOL-he only sports it). It’s the bond/link/combination of love and hate/anger, life and death.

There are a few points I think I should make here.
1. HIM is not a satanist band. As previously stated, the name 'His Infernal Majesty' was meant as a joke. Unfortunately, coming from Scandinavia does not help them live down this rumour.
2. The fact that the singer wears makeup and women's clothing in no way effects the sound of the music, or the music composition. Some of the greatest artists in rock history wore makeup, David Bowie and Iggy Pop being two good examples.
And now the negative.
3. I have a feeling that this band is just using the gimmicks mentioned above to sell records. They seem to aim at the depressed, alienated teenage girl demographic; which we all know continues to grow in the United States, and around the world. Every part of their image; the way they dress, the lyrical content, the flirtation with Satanism through the use of phrases that are commonly associated with Satanism (666, Latin song titles, etc.), is designed specifically to appeal to a certain demographic.
4. The lyrical content is unecessarily blunt. This song is a perfect example of HIM's typical lyrical content; we're in love, and life sucks, so let's kill ourselves. This is not the message we need to be sending to people who are on the verge of contemplating suicide.
5. In my opinion, the music is nothing more than generic goth metal. Just my opinion there, but I would rather listen to something more thematically satisfying. I do like their cover of '(Don't Fear) The Reaper", but only because I like the original. HIM transformed it into a suicide anthem, in my view.

to radicalledward76:
i admire you...lol out of all the comments that were posted on here about this song, yours was the one that was in depth stating exactly why and how u felt about the band and its music. i completely agree with you on #3...that they are using that to sell their records...well actually i think that that may be the WHOLE REASON....it think it's partially (a great part) of why they coined the heartagram but i also think that it really DID have meaning to ville. i'm not into anything that has to do with satanism....i'm not depressed and i don't feel like i'm alienated, but yet i love their music. i understand that u said that they 'seem to aim at the....' but i was just stating that to let you know that i don't LIKE them for that fact, i really do like their music because of the 1. lyrics 2. just the music in general 3. ville-haha. which i liked HIM before ville cleaned himself up and started looking good :) . i don't agree with you however that their typical lyrical content is: "we're in love, and life sucks, so let's kill ourselves". yes...it's about love (hence love metal) but not about life sucking or committing suicide.
but yeah, that's my opinion...and i well respect yours. by the way, if u liked 'don't fear the reaper' (their cover) check out the cover they did of billy idol's 'rebel yell'...they (HIM) do some pretty good covers.

i agree with radicalledward76 in most parts. but HIM's music doesnt just appeal to a specific demographic. although it prob does appeal to a lot of satanic, suicidal, teenage girls, im not one of them. im infact an 18 year old that is the complete opposite of suicidal, but i still love them. but yeah, good points hey!!
