(Don't Fear) The Reaper (Blue Oyster Cul... Lyrics
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
We can be like they are

Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper
Baby take my hand... Don't fear the Reaper
We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...
Romeo and Juliet

40,000 men and women everyday... Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday... Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are

Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper
Baby take my hand... Don't fear the Reaper
We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear we couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
Saying don't be afraid

Come on baby... And we had no fear
And we ran to him... Then we started to fly
We looked backward and said goodbye
We had become like they are
We had taken his hand
We had become like they are

Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

"I heard this and almost shat my pants."
That has nothing to do with this song, that is one of the first signs of the on-set of old age. I regularly shit all over myself, it is awesome, you get whole cinemas to yourself, because no one wants to sit by you.

I thought it was a good cover over all, different, but good.. I have to admit at first I couldn't listen to the whole thing because of whatsername singing.. I dunno if it was jealousy or I just didn't like her voice. Ville is the Finnish god of music.

hmm..i dont know what the song means...i would assume the romeo and juliet thing of dying for love...and Him has actually made this song sound good! anyone who says Blue Oyster Cult did a better job of somehting than Him is seriously drugged. You cant get better than Him..

I love this song. I just listened to the original but I didn't like it. Blue Oyster Cult play it far to fast, that way it loses all the seriousness and emotion. I don't really like the girl's voice (maybe i'm just jealous that she got to sing with Ville hehe) I also quite like the version in Scream, that's where I first heard the song. That's done by someone called Gus. Don't ask me who or what that is cause I have no fucking clue.

I like this cover, although I do very much prefer the original.
It's all about death and not being afraid of it, about dying together in the name of love. Which explains the references to Romeo and Juliet, St.Valentine etc. A song for lovers.

So if I believe the song MEANING is about shitting all over yourself in a movie theater, suddenly I have validated my OPINION?

a poor cover of a song which is only memorable for inspiring a SNL skit....

The original would have been a good song if they hadn't included the middle section... too much wanking at the expense of song-writting...

to clarify the original isn't a bad song... I just think the middle section doesn't really add anything/link up terribly well with the other parts...

Someone with balls should cover the song though...

This cover is kickass!
Ville Valo has the perfect voice for this song
he is a baritone therefore can achieve that dark deep meaningful effect
totally awsome!

And this song may be about death and death for love, but its talking about death in a cinematical way
i hardly think the writer intended to get across a message of suicide is ok...so its not satanic or evil in anyway

HIM ROCKS

I'm gonna take a totally random stab at this song, if I'm completely off, don't be afraid to correct me.
I totally agree with Valentine99 about Ville's voice. He's got a deep mysteriousness that cannot be found through playing the song fast, as BOC does.
However, I think that the songs are pretty different from each other, and personal preference has to do with deciding which is the better. If you like slow and haunting, go for Him, if fast and almost upbeat tickles your fancy, BOC is the way to go.
I personally like Him's version, but the woman has a very almost nasally voice (if you want an example, 5:45) and it really doesn't sound good.
As for meaning, it is apparent it's Romeo-and-Juliet-esque suicide (plus stated by BOC). I also want to point out a touch of fear added to the song. Hence the repeating of lines like 'Come with me, take my hand.' and 'Don't be afraid.'

This is the first HIM song I've ever listened to and I think it is way better than Blue Oyster Cults fast paced lyric singing. I of course like both bands but HIM did a brilliant of this song and I agree with jesuislemonstr and anyone else that it does deal with Romeo & Juliets Love. Blah!

okay Blue Oyster Cult on my opion is gay i dont like anything about them but....... they did come up with the song first and you have to give them some respect but i think it was more then a prifleige for ville singing it but also the girl does ruin it but if she wasnt in it ,it would also be weird becuase this is probley one of there deepest songs when you think about it ,it kinda reminds me of Join me

holy god...why? villo vallo is the worst singer in history, and say that h.i.m. did a better job than boc? what the fuck? H.I.M. ruined this song, they took all of the meaning and feeling from this song and replaced it with a shitty female singer. villos voice is not deep, or haunting. it's emotionless and flat. boc had an incredible sound with this song, and in my opinon h.i.m completly ruined this, but you can't blame them, H.I.M. never made a good anyway. just alot of merch.

I have always loved this song, and in a lot of ways I love the BOC version more simply because it's a classic and it rocks...but I also really love this version as well. HIM simply rocks.

Little question, does anyone know where I can download a ringtone of this? It doesn't have to be a free one, I'd gladly pay for it, but I can't seem to find one anywhere. Thanks. ^nn^
