Hey ho, let's go! Hey ho, let's go!
Hey ho, let's go! Hey ho, let's go!

They're forming in straight line
They're going through a tight wind
The kids are losing their minds
The Blitzkrieg Bop

They're piling in the back seat
They're generating steam heat
Pulsating to the back beat
The Blitzkrieg Bop

Hey ho, let's go
Shoot'em in the back now
What they want, I don't know
They're all revved up and ready to go

They're forming in straight line
They're going through a tight wind
The kids are losing their minds
The Blitzkrieg Bop

They're piling in the back seat
They're generating steam heat
Pulsating to the back beat
The Blitzkrieg Bop

Hey ho, let's go
Shoot'em in the back now
What they want, I don't know
They're all revved up and ready to go

They're forming in straight line
They're going through a tight wind
The kids are losing their minds
The Blitzkrieg Bop

They're piling in the back seat
They're generating steam heat
Pulsating to the back beat
The Blitzkrieg Bop

Hey ho, let's go! Hey ho, let's go!
Hey ho, let's go! Hey ho, let's go!

Song Meaning:To me, this song is about Baby Boomers who were the children of WWII veterans. I think that it is pretty obvious.

General Comment:Blitzkrieg, as many have said, has to do with the war. A giant group of soldiers, planes, infantry, armies rolling in a straight line, shooting others in backs, creating gunpowder steam. BOP is also another way of saying Breach of Peace- put it together and I find it interesting! The blitzkrieg is used just for that- breach of peace in war! Of course, you could then say this song is simply about teens and sex or mindless millions of teens, dancing, pulsating, etc, etc...

General Comment:this song is an ironic commentary on the brainwashing which the nazi youth experienced. they would get all pumped up to go kill people but not be fully aware of the reality of what they were doing. the victims are being lined up for execution, the nazis have lost their minds because of the extent to which they have been brainwashed. the victims were also often transported at in the back of army vehicles and they were executed using gas (steam heat). the nazis were trained to be excited and supportive of murders although the exact reasons for the murders were not often known.

General Comment:OK, I'll show my age here since none of you grew up back then....
Blitzkrieg is a word used for WWII Germany's Lightning War, and Bop was a dance..... but common!
    "They're generating steam heat
Pulsating to the back beat "
This song is about teenage sex in the back of a car!
Bop was a word for sex back then!
Look up Cyndi Lauper's song SHE BOP. It's about masturbation and rarely played because of it.
(times have changed, now you can describe sex graphically and nobody cares...)
Joey Ramone was Jewish (and related to Howard Stern), so I'm sure he's not singing a pro-Nazi song!
Punk music is usually about sex, rebellion and having a good time!

General Comment:its about the youth being pursuated into a numbing state of mind. They get influenced by the corporations and the media with the same effeciency as you could find in the germans Blitzkrieg. The youth are being led to a low state of mind where they dont think. So when they dont think they wont ask questions. When they dont ask questions the corporations can do with them what they want.

And what will the youth get? What is the trade? In this song they say they get sex, but they get all kinds of pleasure luxuries, not only sex.

So in the end they say "What they want, I don't know", thats the corporations that are speaking. They dont care about anyone. They just want to shoot you in the back, or in other words, exploit the hell out of you.

And in order to do this, they had to blietzkrieg the minds through the media.

General Comment:"Blitzkrieg" means lightning war, not lightning strike or lightning speed. It has nothing to do with bombing a city, and everything to do with speed of advance, especially using highly mechanized forces.

In the music context, the Ramones made a high-speed assault on the schlock that was the pop music of the day with a high-tempo alternative, music that moved fast. And more than a few of "the kids" loved it.
