Lyrics for Champagne Supernova as interpreted by kevin

Champagne Supernova Lyrics
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

wow. This is one of those songs you read a lot into, but I guess has no real meaning. I'm determined not to be disappointed by this. I think ambiguity is a good thing, especially when it comes to this song.

This song, a long with "Wonderwall", as well as "Jumper" and "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind, represent summer to me.
A year ago my friend had a party/bon fire the first day we go out of school. We burned all of our notebooks and papers (even a few of the school's textbooks). Then after we were done and the fire was huge, we all just sat around the fire, mesmerized. The boys got out my friend's accoustic and they played those songs. And we all sang a long. It's was pretty awesome. & this summer is going to be even better, and the fire is going to even bigger.

this is probably not what Oasis meant for the song to mean... but i always had interpreted it this way..

i always thought this song was about high school and then how things are when you’re older...

(How many lives are living strange)
*there are many people that you never notice. people seem to be very disconnected from one another.

(Slowly walking down the hall. Faster than a cannon ball)
* seems to me like the halls of a high school.

(Some day you will find me. Caught beneath the landslide In a champagne supernova in the sky)
*maybe when you’re older you’ll meet with someone during a point in your life when nothing is simple as it use to be when you were younger. there are troubles and problems now to face.

(Where were you while we were getting high?)
*you meet that someone and wonder why they couldn’t have been with you when you were younger during the good times in your life..

any time i had ever listened to the part "Where were you while we were getting high?”... i always thought of my future and how ill probably meet someone and wonder why i never knew them when i was younger... and how ill wish that i could have been with them now during high school when i smoke pot all the time and how i just chill and relax everyday and how life seems so simple and easy for me right now.. but instead i’ll meet that person when im older and have to deal with a bunch of shit like money problems, bad relationships, a boring 9-5 job and etc...

personally this song is about growing up and watching your whole life change. When I hear it all I can think about is the kids that I was friends with back in the day and how they have changed so much. I wonder were I was when they first tried drugs. Or either of us went through some significant change in our live. And the line "slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball" relates to how life can seem to move so fast and yet so slow. As for the chorus that relates to how eventually we all end up in the same spot, six feet under. But that is just my perspective.

I know that this song was supposed to have no meaning but it's one of those songs that everyone has their own interpretation on and it can relate to everyone.
Someone played it at a going-away party and it really went with it. Kids I've known for years are going to New York, Indiana, Germany, California, Canada, Korea. We'll probably never cross paths again even though we have shared our lives. It got me thinking about how we went from a bunch of lame kids to a class that the entire school hates that all smokes pot, races cars, does shisha, and guzzles vodka.
I think that a good song is defined by how easily you can relate to it and this is one of those songs.

this song has a strange hypnotic effect.

its interesting that the song would suggest that dawn would die since dawn represents a beginning. and that many people look to summer, while the speaker dies and the world spins without him. he seems to be contemplating the idea of death itself.

it is pretty obvious that when you walk while high, you seem to be walking faster than you really are.

he phrase champagne supernova is a description of the sparkling, bubbling sky, which is genious. even though he is trapped under a landslide, he is admiring the sky becuase he is high.

this is the best closing song on any album made in my opinion. Noel gallagher's best solo's as well.

This song is about nothing, but it gives you a nice warm feeling inside. Like, "fuck everyone" sorta feeling.

okay well appearently no one knows what a supernova is, which is probably the most important part to understanding the song. |A supernova is a dying star, but they're really beautiful, so everyone watches them as they go. This song is about the people who just sort of blend in with the crowd, but inside they're dying for someone to notice them, see that they're special and different. |The whole someday you will find me part is really sad because it's saying that no one will see them until its too let to give them a chance. And the getting high is just sort of a metaphore for escaping real life.

F'ing hell thats a good interpretation of it serenity. I reckon 70% of that is true, but you can sense some elements that are made up in the song.

for me...it's about friendship, and not dedicating time to them while they're getting high, and things are really good. at least that happened to me.
good thing to know what a supernova is :)
anyway i believe this song (as every song) can have different interpretations, words are not the same to everybody, you know :)

I had heard this song several times, but I didn't pay any attention to it until I was reading the book Glamorama and it was featured in the book. Since then, I listened to it a lot. I love this song, and it is great to make out to.

Simply an excellent song, and the perfect song to end an album with! It simply soars, achieving liftoff during the middle and never letting go until the beautiful last note plays. I think the song is about life as a rock star, looking back at your past experiences and, even though you're grateful for the success you obtained, feel guilty about some of the bad or questionable decisions you made to get to the top. I like the chorus, "Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova in the sky...". For me, this reminds me of, say, a father not approving of his son's desires to be in a band, and berates the son for lack of ambition and that he'll never get anywhere in life. The son replies with the chorus, almost saying, "You wait. I'm going to make it to the top, even if it kills me." The song itself is, in my eyes, a bittersweet affirmation of that, with a line that is almost a stab right to the father's (I'm just using a father as an example, it could be any person who acts the same way) heart: "Where were you while we were getting high?". Except, Liam doesn't sing it with venom, he does so almost despairingly, perhaps meaning that the narrator wishes the other person believed in him more.

This song is simply timeless, Wonderwall may have gotten all the attention but Champagne Supernova is every bit as good or better.

It has a lot of sentimental value to me, it was the song I remember the most from a period of time where I lost someone very close to me. Very emotional song, beautiful, classic, and one of the best things to come out of the 90's.

I think Noel would have been high whilst writing this song. Even though to some this libe seems to be nonsensical, things like that make sense whilst high. this is the one ''Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball''. The whole song is full of contradictions like that, but when your high things like that make sense. Some stupid american magazine put that as one of the worst lyrics ever. How dumb can you get you bloody yanks, not everything is black and white. Bloody androids.

How many special people change (why is it people change)
How many lives are living strange (Hoe many people fake change to “fit in”
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall (why is life take so long)
Faster than a cannon ball (before you know it, things are gone)
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide (you’ll find me, overwhelmed by life)
In a champagne supernova in the sky (I won’t be able to take any more and just explode)
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why (Finally realize what happened, and talk to her)
A dreamer dreams she never dies (always dreaming of life, never living it)
Wipe that tear away now from your eye (she realizes that, he’s gone and never returning)
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

Cos people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer (people think they can do anything)
But you and I, we live and die (we live day by day)
The world's still spinning round (Time still goes on)
We don't know why (and we can’t figure out why)
Why, why, why, why

this song can mean anything to anybody for instence. where were u while we were getting high could be friends asking one friend in particular where were u while we were getting high (on life). or one friend doing whats right for himself while the rest wondering where was he while they were getting high (on drugs)....a supernova is the result of a exploding star that has possibly collapsed because it got too high a pressure it is now belived that the heavier elements are created in the pressures of an exploding supernova. that is why gold is known to be fairly rare.

I can't believe people think this song is about nothing and site the example of noel saying he couldn't think of a word rhyming with "hall"....
all
call
fall
gaul
haul
mall
paul
small
tall

thank god the only word that came to mind was ball cos the song just wouldn't have been as good... slowly walking down the hall, propping myself up against the wall. or. slowly walking down the hall, very drunk but standing tall... slowly walking down the hall, to the next shop in the mall...

noel struck lucky and, resultingly, so did we I guess...
