Lyrics for Champagne Supernova as interpreted by kevin

Champagne Supernova Lyrics
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

One of the few oasis songs worth listening to. Definatly better than wonderwall too i might add.

Dunoo what it was about though but the magery of champagne supernova and getting high does suggest substance abuse...

we're moving closer to death everyday. you should be there when you're friends are getting high. theres no actual meaning to anything including this song and that is sheer beauty.

I read somewhere that Noel reckoned the band was high when they wrote this song. I believe his quote was "How can anyone be 'slowly walking down the hall' and 'faster than a cannonball'? Me and the band were high when we wrote this song." All time one of my favourites.. LOVE LIAM AND NOEL!! ABSOLUTE GENIUS!!

Love this song!! Although they themselves stated that it means nothing and that they were high when it was written, there is undoubtedly meaning in the first lines 'How many special people change/How many lives are living strange.' soooo true.

Champagne is for celebrating. This song is about celebrating life. The special people are the ones who change, who find new ways to celebrate life and are considered strange to the majority of people who merely exist. Because most people basically do the same thing day to day telling themselves one day they will change and start living and believe this could possibly happen during a pathetic two weeks vacation every summer. The special people are the ones who don't need to be woken up but rather wake up the dawn and ask it why. Why should I have this day? What am I going to do to celebrate it? Getting High is not necessarily a drug reference but generally living it up.

Champagne Supernova-Noel got the title when he misheard the name of the Pixies album Bossanova while watching a documentary about champagne. ANother version of the story is that a champagne supernova is the experience of smoking marijuana while drinking champagne. Gallagher later purchased a house in North London that he named Supernova Heights. Noel came up with the phrase "Caught beneath the landslide" when he saw an Alessi Gianni sugar jar in his girlfriends kitchen. U can see this peculiar jar in the CD booklet where the lyrics are printed.

When you listen to the album, this song is like cleaning up after a really great party. It just can't compare with the blistering riot of a song that is Morning Glory

When I hear this song, I think of a funeral setting, where a person went because a bunch of his friends died in drug related accidents and he keeps having flashbacks to an exceptionally fun disfunctional summer shared among teenage friends where they obviously smoked pot, they fell in love, they became broken hearted, they had dreams and were young and naive and it was the greatest time of their life.

4:37 - The guitar kicks in when his voice is still going off with such abandon. Awesome.

I'd really like to know how you can compare Dragonforce to Oasis. Their genres aren't even remotely similar, and this is coming from a metal fan. Saying a band is better because their guitarist is faster is just rubbish.

That being said, I like the relaxed feel this song has. The lyrics and song title mean nothing at all, which is typical Oasis. Its one of those songs that never grow old. Nice build-up. Paul Weller is awesome, but I think the solo portion could have been produced less. I don't really think of song meanings much when I play Oasis songs, I just play it. This song just chills me out, and that's about all there is to it.

life. life is undescribable. life is beautiful. life is amazing. live without regrets, and take risks. get high. because, someday, when you least expect it, you will be gone.

this song is an epiphany for me.
"don't be scared of death, it's not that bad."

get high with your friends, don't let them miss out on fun--"where were you while we were getting high".

actually, it means DONT leave your friends behind. friends are the most important thing in this world. without them you'd be nothing..

if anyone know what i'm talking about, let me know. i'm not a very understandable person.

people change. dreams change. life is rad.

Well, first of all, I have to say that I love Oasis dearly. Their song "Wonderwall" is magnificent as well as this one and "Live Forever". When I was Younger, I always thought it was a firl that a guy liked. He always knew the girl existed but was too busy wasting away his life that he never realized the real greatness of her.

Also, "Slowly walking down the hall/Faster than a cannonball" translates for me to "life then seemed to take forever but it was over so fast".

This is a good introduction to a band. Listen to Champagne Supernova, you will know about 3 minutes into the first listen whether you'll like Oasis or not.

Thats the thing about Oasis, none of their lyrics ever go too deep, people read into them because they are quite often just random, covenient ryhmes, for information that was simply absorbed by the gallaghers minds, most probably in a drunken state. Thats the genius of it, people make their own interpretations

this is a song you either play when your're high or your done with drugs for good and you want to remember all the times you spent on drugs with your friends or at least try too... this song pulls you in and makes you wonder a lot about society and the forces between your peers and the changes you all go through. It has a lot of emotion too it and anyone who has toked up with their buddies before can relate to it. Today you often see anti drug ads on TV or above the influence commercials that try to discourage people from smoking pot and to take charge and control of thier life, but this song is for people who believe in taking things on the otherside and don't care about what people say because when they were high with their friends they were having the time of thier life and it's something to be cherished.

God, i love this song so much and simply BECAUSE of the fact that it has no meaning to it. at the right time (if you catch my drift) this song can make you feel pretty good just listening to it...doesnt have to make sense of anything

the lines "slowly walking faster down the wall, faster than a cannonball" impies that she [i think of high-heels stepping slowly and deliberately so its a she] brings distruction to the illusions the singer experiences when hes high/drunk, he would of preferred it if she had joined him and was less serious, or he thinks she cant do anythingabout it now as the action was in the past.

appaerently it is something to do with re-incarbation! Noel Gallagher once said in a interview that he has still not made up his mind as to what the song actually is about, though he thinks it might be about reincarnation

im having trouble seeing how though
