Lyrics for Champagne Supernova as interpreted by kevin

Champagne Supernova Lyrics
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

It is appropriate that Champagne Supernova and Morning Glory sit next to each other on the album and fade into one another - both are drug songs, both about Cocaine (Champagne/Cocaine). Ditto the references to the mirror and the razorblade in Morning Glory.

i dont care if this song didnt make sense when it was written. it totally makes sense for me. this song defiantely makes me think of my ex boyfriend cuz we had a messed up relationship. mostly cuz of the fact he was a major pothead and a drinker. he was my first love so to me it means. that one day hes gonna wish i was there and why couldnt i save him before. its hard to explain its more of something i feel than is just words. someone on here said some people just get it the first time they hear this song and if you dont you never will i believe that. whats really weird is i was flippin thru the radio and i heard this song for the first time and i just stopped and it just completely made perfect sense to me. then i had my computer on and all of a sudden this song came on but i didnt download it it was my ex boyfriend and his friend who did it the last time i saw him...it was just nuts

Ahh, I love this song....makes me high...lol. I think that its just hilarious though how British people pronounce the 'a' at the end of a word...he says "champagne supernov-er" instead of "supernova" in this song...its funny cause Elton John, who is also british (for those of you who dont know) also talks like that in his songs...in "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" he says ", he says "it'll take you a couple of vodk-er and tonics" instead of "vodka"....heh heh I love british singers...they kick ass....

i'm not sure i believe the Gallaghers in that interview, i think they were just trying to make themselves seem bad ass w/ that. i dont think you can actually write a song w/o some sort of meaning to it. but this is easily my favorite song ever made. the guitar is absolutely amazing. i get chills everytime i hear it. the entire song is a masterpiece.

It's just another Oasis song that the Noel Gallagher wrote to sound like the Beatles...but in any case, Oasis is a fucking unbelievable band and this is by far their greatest achievement!!

this song means life, plain and simple, for me. LIFE. shit happens and you lose ppl. along the way, but all in all one day you will be together again 'somewhere' in the catalyst of a 'champagne supernova'.

one of Oasis best. I wonder if Andy Bell ever chats to Noel Gallagher about the guitar solo half way through the song as it appears to be the same as the end of close my eyes when it was played live, written by andy bell whilst in his first band Ride. Still Noel would admit himself hes nicked a few riffs in his time.

This song is about change and growing apart to me. Incredibly sad, but incredibly cool at the same time...

"How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?"

(Basically saying friends grow older and change when you once knew them.)

"Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?"

(Saying how time is slow when you are young, and then gets "faster than a cannon ball" as you grow older. The getting high part is just another reflection back to remembering the past)

"Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky"

(Something that the group of friends said as a joke when they still were together...)

"Cos people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why"

(The group of friends made a pact that they would get back together in the future when they were young...Each time they re-unite they have so much to catch up with each other that its almost like they never met each other....)

Just my take...

It's Oasis! Someone got high/stoned and wrote something under influence that, due to a very nice melody, great musical backing and the band's reputation, turned into a hit!

What RPZQ posted sums up what I thought ... nothing. Different parts of the song have nothing necessarily in common ... but somehow I always feel high when listening to this song.

My mom is so freaked out by even the mention of drugs so I can't really play this song out loud while she's around because of the part "where were you while we were getting high"

But I think that part is cool!

Sorry but this band is kinda crap. Its so weak and unemotional, compared to dragonforce anyway. Dragonforce can play their guitars faster, have more meaning in their lyrics and they actually put power and emotion in their music!

'Dragonforce' can suck my hairy ballsack, you metalhead twat. And how the fuck are Oasis crap? They were the greatest band of the 1990s bar none. And they're still the best. The sad thing about metalheads is that your music is hard but you aren't.
