Lyrics for Champagne Supernova as interpreted by kevin

Champagne Supernova Lyrics
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

In short, they're saying:
"Why didn't you stop us taking drugs and killing ourselves, when you could see what it was doing to us?"

THis song makes me feel really depressed, sad, and nostalgic....But ui keep listening to it because its so good. I think it's good that Oasis didn't intend a meaning for it, because that way it can mean different things to everyone.
Personally, it makes me think about how everyone changes and sorta watching everyone pass by and go on their way in life. Has a vary nostalgic sad feeling to the song (I think)

noel got the idea this way: while he was watching a documentary about Champagne, someone said to him "Surfer Rosa" (pixies song), but he mis-heard it for "Supernova", so he put the two together "Champagne Supernova", one of oasis best. if they had of released it it would be sooo outplayed..

I believe that this means that whenever he dies he will become apart of the sky. (more specifically a champagne-colored nova)

This has a great beatlish melody (sorry Oasis fans, I know some of you hate the comparison but..face facts) I totally believe they wrote this about nothing. This is the major problem with Oasis. All their songs are songwriting exercises. If the tune to 'Yesterday' had come to Noel or Liam, instead of Paul McCartney, it would not have progressed beyond 'scrambled eggs' I'm sorry, but to me Oasis is a bunch of great tunes waiting for a lyric. Obviously they have nothing to say.

In fact, everything wrong about western culture is embodied by this song. i.e., it's sound-bite chanting that won't stand up to scrutiny.

i once listened to this song high once and i'm not saying that this is what the correct interpertation is but this is my oppinion. to me this song is about somebody who once had a good friend who then changed and he's wondering where he was and why hes not with them while there getting high. Then he's also saying that someday he will fall beneath the landslide.. his problums.. and his old friend will find him to pick him up. I also thought that this song could be talking about a friend of his who died and is wondering where he is and how he misses getting high with him and him being there.

here is what a few of the lines mean to me:
"someday you will find me
caught beneath the landslide
in a champagne supernova"

it's saying that 'you' will find 'me' in a state of total failure and/or being absolutly overwhelmed by life. for some reason, i keep thinking that a champagne supernova is a burst of fireworks-just the visual image.

this is what it means to me:

First Verse
How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
(This verse is about how society changes you, makes u a part of it, you lose all ur esence.Where were u when we have been just ourselves, maybe u changed.)

Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
(i dunno what is this part about, maybe is when u get really high, you think you go slow, but u r runnin)

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
(This is one of the best bunch of words i ever heard.
it means that someday you will find me in a very bad situation, but im not the same, im a star, thats what champagne supernova means to me, stars.)

and all the song keeps being the same, maybe we know that we will die, sometimes we dont wanna face it.

God...this has got to be the best song ever. I don't ever get sick of hearing it. Wonderwall is a very very close second.I remember hearing this song when my sister was in college and this was the "college kid" music. Now that I'm older and in college myself, I have a much better appreciation for it.Even if the song isn't supposed to have a real meaning, it still has this feeling, this meaning behind it thats probably different from person to person.I know that for me the "where were you while we were getting high?" part is like asking someone "hey, where were you when I was self destructing? Why didn't you save me?" Or its atleast referring to a time in your life when drinking and smoking pot is like the high light of the weekend, a time to just get away from anything and everything for awhile.I guess it just depends on your personal experience. But wow what a song....

I'd have to say this is one of the very very very few songs that is over 6 minutes that I love to listen to the whole thing, to me its the thought that as long as you and (whoever your soulmate is) are together, you'll last forever "'Cuz we don't believe
That they're gonna get away from the summer
But you and I will never die
The world's still spinning around we don't know why

but thats just me

people got high and wrote a song with no meaning, no point.

if you make your own meaning to a song, then it really doesnt matter what the artist was trying to get across, does it? why dont you all just get high and write your own lyrics? oh...right...they wont have cool music backing them up...so they wont mean as much........

I don't care what the meaning is. It moved me quite a bit as a youngster and is currently on the radio so I figured I'd post. Still love this song.

this song is about people changing around you, and having a good friend and watching them change. And while your doing things that were special in that friendship, your wondering where they are. And someday they will find them at a low point in life, but still be there to help them.
Also, this is showing that we are all connected and people are constantly changing.

this song is one of the best songs that oasis have made. the very fact that its partly about nothing is genius and the fact that it sold so many copies proves that oasis rule. this is a bloody brilliant piece. i love it

its not about anything in particular.. which makes it even more brilliant.. like someone said earlier the getting high bit was just what they used to ask each other, and i read somewhere that the words champagne supernova came from when noel was sitting home drunk and/or stoned watching a show about making champagne and listening to 'some pixies cd the missus had on' (its actually called bossanova) and i think the fact none of it means anything makes it better.
