Lyrics for Champagne Supernova as interpreted by kevin

Champagne Supernova Lyrics
How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath a landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we'll never die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

Mate, it's "Cos' people believe" instead of "Cuz' we don't believe" and "Wake up at dawn" not "Wake up the dawn", little mistakes but you gotta get it right.
I thank you

I Believe this was released as a single in Australia but for some reason (may be something to do with the 'Gettin High') wasn't released in the UK, would have been at No.1 for many weeks!

Okay, since this is songMeanings, I need to ask: what the heck is this song about? I'm trying to figure it out, but coming out incredibly short... nothing seems to be related to much of anything else. Pretty damn groovy anyway, tho :)

every person interprets a song differently, funkboy, but it the literal sense, i think they are talking about addiction of some sort, probably alchohol, and the one who was supposed to save them, but wasn't there is time.

Actually, Noel Gallagher himself writes on the Oasis site what this song is all about- Oasisinet.com: (basically it's about nothing...)

Champagne Supernova
"Some of the lyrics were written when I was out of it. There's the words: 'Someday you will find me/ Caught beneath a landslide/ ln a Champagne Supernova in the sky'. That's probably as psychedelic as I'll ever get. It means different things when I'm in different moods. When I'm in a bad mood being caught beneath a landslide is like being suffocated. The song is a bit of an epic. It's about when you're young and you see people in groups and you think about what they did for you and they did nothing. As a kid, you always believed the Sex Pistols were going to conquer the world and kill everybody in the process. Bands like The Clash just petered out. Punk rock was supposed to be the revolution but what did it do? F all. The Manchester thing was going to be the greatest movement on earth but it was f all. When we started we decided we weren't going to do anything for anybody, we Jut thought we'd leave a bunch of great songs. But some of the words are about nothing. One is about Bracket The Butler who used to be on Camberwick Green, or Chipley or Trumpton or something. He used to take about 20 minutes to go down the hall. And then I couldn't think of anything that rhymed with 'hall' apart from 'cannonball'. so I wrote 'Slowly walking down the hall/ Faster than a cannonball' and people were like, 'Wow, f , man'. There's also the line 'Where were you while we were getting high?' because that's what we always say to each other. But the number of people who've started clubs called Champagne Supernova is f ing unbelievable. And the album isn't even released yet."

Men live with the fact they are going to die. It's the only trivial fact in the song. Our knowledge of time and life seems more and more meaningless as we approach decline.

Noel Once said he'd rather not have anyone try to interpert his lyrics. So I wont try to! But I must say this is a killer song!

This song is the first Oasis song I heard, and I've loved it ever since. It means so much on so many different levels (to me), regardless of whether it meant to Noel...

As RPZQ said above from the interview with Noel Gallagher, I don't think this song means anything literal particularly (at least the song as a whole doesn't - different lines by themselves might). But the feeling you get from listening to the song is amazing. The lyrics don't make sense, but this song is all about the rush you get. "someday you will find me / caught beneath the landslide / in a champagne supernova in the sky". Fantastic.

i agree cherub rock completely, that is so right, the ssong just gives you a feeling and it might have to do with teh lyrics, but it probalby doesnt, it just has to do with the song as a whole. which is an awesome concept.

I always liked the little picture above the lyrics on the sleeve of the plastic figure tumbling down a slope of white powder, used to make me laugh, don't know why....
