Don't fail me now
Don't you even fucking think it
We're dead somehow
But somehow we're still breathing

The secret's out
But it's too loud to think it
Whatever drowns the counting machines out
That drive you
And drive you
To eat
To eat shit

Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees

Don't leave me now
Don't you even fucking think it
I'm not myself
But somehow I'm still being here

The secret's out
But it's too loud to think it
Whatever drowns the truffle pigs out
That drive you
And drive you
To eat
To eat shit
To eat
To eat shit

Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
Jen, I'll bring them to their knees

(Hey hey now)
To their knees

My Interpretation:Listening to the acoustic version of this song on "In a Coma" really gave me more insight. The added bells were a beautiful touch. I think this song is about somebody who has been in an argument with somebody for a long time, and has turned into a completely different person, trying to change their views and values to such extreme versions of their original ones. They've lost touch with who they used to be. And upon realizing this, they sort of separate their self into two different parts. Their original self, and the side of them that really wants to win the argument or fight. They want it to be over with, but part of them really wants to just shatter the other person. Bring them to their knees. However, they don't want to think of it, even though it's true. It's too much.

General Comment:I know that Matt wrote the Audio of Being while he was going through a really tough time (personally and with the band). Because of that I almost feel bad having this album be one of my favorites (either this or Avalanche). Also, I don’t understand how this album did as poorly as he stated on his website.

General Comment:Matt's songs are often about political issues, and The Audio of Being was released in 2001 (not sure which month). Considering that the song was written before the release of the album it could have very easily been written sometime in between George W. Bush's election and the release of the album. Given that, I think most of the first verse references how the 2000 US Presidential election was rigged (specifically Florida). I think the line 'The secret's out But it's too loud to think it' means that the cheating was so obvious yet nobody challenged the decision. Then of course 'Whatever drowns the counting machines out' means that the votes in Florida did not count, and the people's voices were completely disregarded. That's my take on it. Comments?

General Comment:a truffle pig is a certain sort of pig with an innate ability to sniff out truffle mushrooms. truffles are only found in the woods of certain parts of europe and are quite the delicacy.
the truffle pig is being replaced by the truffle dog because once the pigs find the truffles, they eat them, which poses problems for the gourmets who are hunting the truffles.

General Comment:Jenn was probably his girlfriend or fiancee at the time, but they are now married. And Jenni is different from this Jenn, I believe.

General Comment:well, no. Jen is his girlfriend/fiance type deal. This song he wrote when she was gone, and it was all in the news about this stalker trying to get matt good. so...i think it's probably about distance/being one when you are a couple? who knows? beautiful song though...

General Comment:if you read his manifesto entitled "the night opus" he describes his relationship with a girl named Jen and i believe it's the same Jen along with the Jen from "Jenni's Song"...
