Lyrics for Honour as interpreted by Mopnugget

Honour Lyrics
Passive field, January two thousand and twelve.
A nation that stands alone.
Cold voices, faces pale, gathered unto their judgment day.

Such pride remains unbroken.
Such words remain unspoken.
Just mothers to stand in vain and cry.
Tears and medals in the rain.

Shall I recall when justice did prevail?
No reason to be found why reason did fail.
The all clear resounding.
The way was clear to rebuild this land.

Shall I call on you to guide me well,
To see our hopes and dreams fulfilled?
On this day of our ascension.

Stand your ground, this is what we are fighting for.
For our spirit and laws and ways.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
For heaven or hell we shall not wait.

Shall I think of honour as lies
Or lament its aged slow demise?
Shall I stand as a total stranger
On this day in this stone chamber?

The all clear resounding.
The way was clear to rebuild this land.
Shall I call on you to guide me well.
To see our hopes and dreams fulfilled.
On this day of our ascension
On this day we praise the fallen.

Stand your ground, this is what we are fighting for.
For our spirit and laws and ways.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
For heaven or hell we shall not wait.

Shall I think of honour as lies
Or lament it's aged slow demise?
Shall I stand as a total stranger
On this day in this stone chamber?

After taking everything in. Could this be Ronan's prediction? A huge war breaking out in the January of 2012. Im probably just thinking crazy. But maybe.

this is an older song by vnv that got released in 1999.
It seems to be inspired by Shakespeare's Julius Caesar combined with the ides of the struggles of wars and a date thrown in around the year ending the of Mayan calender.

waldemar is an idiot, and vnv nation IS NOT of what waldemar is about.

Ronan said this about Honour; "Honour's an anti-war song, it's about a veteran if you will, because it’s a long dissertation."

Quote from a VNV Nation interview with Ronan Harris.

"I mean there have been songs since I feel like a victory, but here I go using militaristic terminology, but the album was not about war and the people saw it like that, it’s like people who took Honor as a war song. Honor’s an anti-war song, it’s about a veteran if you will, because it’s a long dissertation. I didn’t ever want to write a simplistic album. It’s a long dissertation to explain to people what that metaphor, how it was being used. Like, one track, track 11 is a minute’s silence, it’s a symbolism of remembrance, because when on the 11th of November at eleven minutes passed eleven in most allied countries, there was a minute’s silence to remember the dead. It was called Schweigeminute because Germans, that's what they call a minute’s silence, they don’t have it at eleven minutes passed eleven on 11th November because they're, you know, dissuaded from honoring the war dead. To me it was a parallel between all the people I know who have struggled to be who they are and lost and failed."

Think its about the apocalypse because 2012 is when the world ends in the Myan calendar

I feel fireinthedawn is right on the arrow with the concept of a third force. I have noticed a lot of significance placed around the number 3, and sometimes even 9 in VNV Nation's music, artwork, and other little things.
Examples include:

VNV Nation is 9 letters;

V N V is 3 letters;

Advance and Follow is 3 words;

The Cover of Matter and Form depicts two opposing alchemical symbols, with the VNV Logo in between, balancing them both;

Matter and Form is 3 words;

The Cover of Empires is divided into three separate regions, with 3 letters out of 'VNV Nation" spread across each segment, Also, the cover has two "blue" flames, one Red Flame, the two empty blue spaces, the empty black space, and the VNV Nation and Empires title, and the VNV Logo, a total of 9 separate pieces;

There are 3 Beloved EPs (the 3rd was a 12 inch containing 4 mixes by Hiver and Hammer, which can be seen on the VNV Nation Discography on their website);

There are 9 variant mixes of Beloved available, assuming you do not count either the Radio edit or Futureperfect version;

Beloved.1 contains 3 separate mixes of Beloved;

Genesis.1 and Genesis.2 both contain 3 variant mixes of Genesis;

Standing EP and Burning Empires both depict 3 bars of light descending towards the VNV Nation logo, and Standing EP contains 3 mixes of Standing;

Darkangel contains 3 tracks, and the artwork has 9 lines or objects in orange;

darkangel is 9 letters;

There are 3 mixes of Darkange by VNV Nationl: The original, Gabriel, and Azrael; (there is, however, the 4th "Apocalyptic Mix" by Das Ich)

Solitary EP contains 3 mixes of Solitary;

The "I Want Justice" design at the bottom of their website is 3 words.

I realize some of this may be coincidence, but I hope someone finds this helpful. All of this can be proven via the VNV Nation Website

This is not about the Nostradamus/Mayan/I-Ching end of the world. Kinda hard to fight a battle when the world is destroyed. Ronan has said he chose the date at random before everyone started making a big deal out of it.

Honour is about honoring those who died defending their country, way of life, cultural heritage, etc. That while war is terrible, it is necessary at times, and that actions taken can be honorable. It makes me think about the English defending their land from the invading Normans (who incidentally invaded and destroyed most of the English culture anyways).
