Lyrics for Kingdom as interpreted by Mopnugget

Kingdom Lyrics
Our domain, this kingdom come
Now godless lands whose ways are lost.
Without the strength to carry on.
All values lost all virtue none.

Did you think you'd be saved
By burning flags to cleanse yourselves of shame?
Or are you afraid, are you afraid,
As you stare back at your face?
Are you ashamed, are you afraid,
By destroying what the gods had made?
Do you think that you'll be saved?
Do you think that you'll be saved?

I believe that we'll conceive
To make in hell for us a heaven.
A brave new world, a promised land.
A fortitude of hearts and minds.
Until I see this kingdom is mine,
I'll turn the darkness into light.
I'll guide the blind, my will be done
Until the day I see our kingdom has been won.

No more the servants of the weak
Devoid of thought or light to seek.
I’ll leave no walls, no stone unturned.
Every tower must be razed
To the dust from which it came.
None will be spared, no remnant saved.

Are you ashamed, are you afraid
Of the gods and idols you have made?
Did you think you would be saved
By the gods and idols you have made?
None will be saved.
None will be saved.

I think this song is about the fact that our world has been totally corrupted - we have destroyed everything. He wants to win the kingdom back for us- reverse all the destruction and make our world a happy place- and in order to do that we must all simply do what we can- turn the darkness into light wherever possible, and eventually, we can save ourselves and our world

one of there better songs, althou more played then others. i find it as one of there deeper religous songs of course. basically if gods not gonna help , we will move on , and make this world ours.

I believe that we'll conceive
To make in hell for us a heaven.

Did you think you would be saved
By the gods and idols you have made?
None will be saved.

Although it's now two years after the last post I just have to say my thing about this one. I love this song, to me it's one of the most clear songs VNV made sofar :) (not counting Matter and Form albums cuz I don't have that yet).
This song is all about creating a place where you can feel at home, be it a kingdom or a sanctum.
The gods and idols that we have made aren't going to help us, every tower must be raised and a new 'fortitude of hearts and minds' must be build.

The only trouble I ran into with these lyrics is the two lines:
No more the servants of the weak
Devoid of thought or light to seek.

Maybe someone else can help me out with those, great song, that's a fact!

No more the servants of the weak
Devoid of thought or light to seek.

It means us. We blindly follow our rulers with unwaivoring support. Our leaders want nothing to do with fixing the world, they're too focused on things that destroy it. We are slaves to our leaders, and in that aspect we ignore the true problems.

This song is particularly meaningful in that it expresses an inspiring amount of faith in human adaptability and integrity.

"I believe that we'll conceive
To make in hell for us a heaven."

I believe this as well, and with this belief there truly is no reason to fear a hell, whether on this Earth or otherwise. There are is no need for the gods and idols we make...we have more than ample power to transform our existence.

Not only "our rulers" but our gods and idols as well.

Think of heaven and hell as invaders in the celeestial kingdom of the nuetral.

Heils...As for me,I am a worshipper of Arisk Black Metal/all its branches(especially NSBM),but EBM stuff means for me too much as an excellent music enfleshing an ideology.
I am really confused by such a misunderstanding...A songtitle/content speaking clear:"Kingdom"is about the fate of Europe, our Sacred Domain that is in deep spiritual decadence now,as time of Ragnarok is near.Total domination of foreign,non-European tribes and cultures/ideals-so it shall finally lead to apocalyptic phase:RAHOWA.Dont even hope,it will be sad and cruel time of blood and brutal war..."no walls, no stone unturned.
Every tower must be razed",
and then we shall see the new dawn...and finally OUR DOMAIN...
Hail Europe!14/88

This song reminds me of dark Old Testament Holy War Battles or of Ezekiel37 where a prophet nearly commands an army of skeletons. This makes me feel as though I am on the battlefield of Armageddon beating the Devil to pieces. There will be much destruction, but we will make the best of it. Isaia62:1 matches this, I say. Our will be done, our domain, our kingdom will be that which is described in Matthew5:5, these people shall inherit the earth. Did the Pharisees and corrupt priests really think that God was proud of what they were doing? This is harsh but truth. This song is hardcore and I love it. Light will come. We look down, earth, or the world better said, is going down, and is darkening. The skies will release their love and light and we have the glory we will have earned by overcoming this life. Light will win.

this song is a fanfiction dealing with the author's inability to choose between Condom Kingdom on south street and Kingdom Hearts 2. The author is so torn between the condoms and the kingdoms thereof, and the hearts and the twosies (and even 3's are hinted at), that at the end of the day he chooses Kinddergarten Cop 2. vnv nation's lyrics always seem to deviate from the normal method of thinking, as any person with half a nutsac and 2 times the brainpower would have gone with Weekend at Bernie's. genius.

This song is basically exploring the ideas in modern satanism or luciferianism: individual strength, rejection of outside false ideals, etc: no one will be saved, because the only salvation comes from the self.

Very nice use of subtle subversions of traditional christian phrasings as well, "My will be done" vs. "Thy will be done"

If I read the VNV Nation interview correctly, this song is about the building of the self.

By the way RandomOck is joking.

this is a great song, and there's the meaning I take out of it:
It's about a construction of a new world that now is full of illusions and desollusions.
I don't mind that they're saying that there's no god, but I certain that the point is - this doesn't matter.
we can't just wait from a divine will to change our world. it's our world! and we can make it a nice place for EVERY human, where the human will be free from every kind of opression, including the religion.

We can do this.
