it was inspired by a bizarre party on the tour bus. abe collects knives and everyone was dancing round the bus with a knife. it became a band joke because of how silly is was and then chino made up a fake scenario from it -

"I made up this fake scenario of some kind of underworld society of knives, people who just get off on these erotic fantasies," he says. "Or something like that. An 'Eyes Wide Shut' kind of thing." - Chino

i haven't quite worked out what this song means 2 me, but i think it's gr8 and 1 of their best. it means different things 2 me when i listen 2 it at different times n when i'm in different moods.

I love this song! It’s mellow and has a twisted sense of irony of how the dangerous image of the knife is immediately contrasted to sex. In the line: "We’re all anemic" It emphasises the futility of life and how the dangerous things excite us the most.

I love this song too Paradoxical Martyr. This song to me is about suicide.When he said that he is the king PROBABLY means that he now knows what to do or what he thinks is right. All the fiends are on the block symbolizes all of the people that have judged him in the past or made him feel like shit. So get your knife probably means if you feel the same way go ahead and join me. Either way this song is very mellow and I love it!!

this song means alot to me coz it reminds me of the temptation to hurt urself, i have a friend who was like that but now shes doing better and the song just reminds me of how bad things can get. the line "In here anemic and sweet so" is saying how even tho ur physically hurting urself mentally ur letting out the pain and for a while everything feels so much better.

even though its about some goof tour bus thing, i'd like to think that hes talking to some girl who's really good at getting to the root of him and cuts through his facades like a steely katana. and he likes it. bc that's how it sounded to me cause some chick was doing that to me, and under her knife everyone's anemic, but she was cool about it.
