Lyrics for We Walk The Same Line as interpreted by punkmebabygal

We Walk The Same Line Lyrics
If you loose your faith, babe, you can have mine,
and if you're lost I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

Now I don't have to tell you
how slow the night can go,
I know you've watched for the light.

And I bet you could tell me
how slowly four follows three,
and you're most forlorn just before dawn.

So if you loose your faith babe,
you can have mine,
and if you're lost, I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

When it's dark baby,
there's a light I'll shine,
and if you're lost, I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

And I don't need reminding
how loud the phone can ring
when you're waiting for news.

And that big old moon
lights every corner of the room.
Your back aches from lying
and your head aches from crying.

So if you loose your faith babe,
you can have mine,
and if you're lost, I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

When it's dark baby,
there's a light I'll shine,
and if you're lost, I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

And if these troubles
should vanish like rain on midday,
well I've no doubt there'll be more.

And we can't run and we can't cheat,
cause babe when we meet
what we're afraid of,
we find out what we're made of.

So if you loose your faith babe,
you can have mine,
and if you're lost, I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

When it's dark baby,
there's a light I'll shine,
and if you're lost, I'm right behind,
cause we walk the same line.

The refrain must begin, "If you LOSE your faith"; the question is loss, not release.

Definitely should be spelled with one "O" not 2.
To me, this song is simply about someone telling a friend that they understand loneliness and how the night can drag when you can't sleep. She's on the same path and offers comfort only insofar as she's saying there's another lonely person right there with you. So she is offering her faith if the person she is singing to loses theirs. I'm a little unsure about the use of the phrase "you can have mine." That seems to imply that she has no use for it herself. Contrast that with saying "I'll give you mine" which would be a little more helpful and hopeful. And having no use for it would mean that the singer has given up, whatever faith she has is useless to her. This is supported by the 4th to last stanza:
And if these troubles
should vanish like rain on midday
well I've no doubt there'll be more.

The sky might be clear now but the rain clouds will be back, don't worry.

Pretty much a downer of a song, I guess. Hey you're alone, I know what it's like, don't worry, so am I but don't expect being alone together to make you feel less alone.
